The great thing is if it works as well as I've heard, I might just buy it's big brother and a Ruger 10/22 takedown and I still will be paying less than the Kimber. Some day I'll get a Kimber but I'm not in a big hurry now.

If you do get its big brother, you may wind up doing what I did and getting rid of the compact.

I had zero difficulties concealing a 5" 1911, so I eventually traded my 3.5" model in to get a Glock 19 of all things.

Since the bigger gun concealed just fine, carried more rounds and I was more accurate with it I saw no reason to hang onto the Compact. YMMV.

I'm not even in it for a week yet nor have I fired the new RIA and I'm already eyeballing the RIA's cousin, Citadel. I need to get a second job just to support this otherwise I just may go thru withdrawls.

Thanks for the vocabulary lesson. I can't believe it took me 20ish years to get my hands on one now I won't put it down. I'm psychic too, I forsee a much bigger safe in my near future.

There is no such thing as an appropriately sized gun safe, they all seem to get smaller once they have been installed...

Work and life got in the way. I finally got a chance to take the RIA for a test drive. FLAWLESS! Not a single one out of 40 rounds. My current carry wasn't that good in the beginning. I was impressed that there wasn't any more recoil than my carry 9mm. I'm really digging this one, it migt become my new carry. The only negative is the sights. My eyes are old and the sights are hard to align. Easy fix though so next step is to find some new sights. This is a keeper.

Thanks Andy I really appreciate the information. I could tell it was going to be a challenge to find something that would work. I wasn't really sure where to start so now I know where to start. I also made an appointment to get my eye exam. I'm sure I'm working up to bifocals and I'm not looking forward to it.

I have that same pistol and bought exactly the same sights and tools Andy just recommended.

I have a friend at work who is an ameteur gunsmith and competitive shooter. He installed the sights for me. As payment, I let him keep the tools.

So urnoodle....... Not that there's anything wrong with 9mm, there isn't, but don't you get a certain amount of confidence from .45 ACP, knowing that you can shoot it well and that it's not as terrifying as some might think?

Yes, I really do like the .45acp now. It's a big cartridge and I stayed away from it because I was little afraid of it. The first pull of the trigger had my heart pounding a little but I was surprise how easy it was to shoot. If it was polimer, I'm sure I would have felt a lot more recoil. I'm not afraid to shoot a polimer .45acp now either. I wish the ammo was little cheaper but that's what reloading is for. Now if I can figure out the best way to carry both of them at the same time, that would be something.

The slide had to be milled for the front dovetail, but I planned to have it chromed anyway, so that was fine.
