This is the definition of dagger that I was taught in the academy also. Any knife that has two sharpened edges and is designed to cut by stabbing. I think most officers would only worry about the first part of the second edge. If it is sharpened far enough to cover the curved tip, it is two sharp edges. It would not have to have the second edge sharpened all the way up.
:iagree:

Not that my opinion is in the same neighborhood of quality as your training, but I did do a bit of reading on this subject as I wanted to get a knife that wasn't going to get me into trouble (unless I was in San Antonio :grumble ).

I looked up daggers, dirks, stilettos and poniards...and even without the assist feature, if I put that thing up against pictures of daggers, it doesn't seem very hard to see the resemblance. If I wanted to prove to someone that it WAS a dagger, that is all I would do, too...hold up a picture of that knife and compare it to pictures of daggers...

That is why I bought a "skinning" type knife...doesn't look like any of those...and doesn't look like a little b "bowie knife", either.

Uh, then, NO. Keep in mind that a dagger includes a "dirk, stiletto, poniard, whatever that is, bowie knife, sword or spear. These all fall under the category of "illegal knife". My general understanding of a dagger was, and this goes back to the 80's D&D rules, smallish, concealable, double edged, and pointy. So I stand by my firm "NO".

What makes it even worse is a lot of school systems now have an ISD Police Department.

Issues that would have simply fallen under the "school disciplinary process" years ago are now being charged as crimes.

Please note that if the legislative change is made in the next session to move CHL's from TPC §46.15(b) to 46.15(a), then our Concealed Handgun License becomes a Concealed Weapons License and we would be allowed to carry anything currently defined as an "illegal knife" in TPC §46.01(1).

Don't feel too bad...my wife bought me a "baby" K-Bar for a present a while ago. I intended to carry it...its technically short enough; however, the shape of it can be construed to be a little-b Bowie knife, so it sits gathering dust in my gun cabinet...maybe someday.
