Now my next question is mainly for other expats, although us nationals please I'd welcome your views! Anyway I was at a range local to me, and got chatting to a couple of guys there, they mentioned they both had chl's and as the conversation went on I mentioned I was thinking of getting one (now the next bit please do not think I'm am generalizing/stereotyping, I've found texans and particularly the shooting community to be the most welcoming and helpful people I have ever met) any way the atmosphere quickly changed, including being told in no uncertain terms by one of the gentleman that 'he doesn't think outsiders should be allowed to carry' ...... So my question is, im curious to know have any of the other expats on here ever found similar attitudes toward them carrying or (and as I mentioned above I'm absolutely sure this will be the case) am I a isolated case!

Absolutely correct a hunting liscence acts as the "exception" to buy a gun and apply for a CHL ........ only other documents required are Texas DL and I-94 entry card numberKythas wrote:Welcome to the forum and to our Great State of Texas!
You don't have to be a citizen, simply a legal resident. However, I believe you also need a hunting license for some strange reason, either to buy a gun or get a CHL or something like that. I'm not sure why I'm thinking a hunting license comes in to play somehow, but it's there tickling my brain.
Can anyone else chime in on this? If you're a non-citizen, but a legal resident, is a hunting license necessary for either purchasing a gun or obtaining a CHL?
Andy .... i have come across the same attitude .......... well if i cant have them in their country ... they should not be allowed them in mine ...... i dont agree with this but thats how some people think . The truth is that in these comtries ..... e.g UK ..... "nobody" can have them so its not a them and us situation. I believe if the "country" allows then it should be the same for every law abiding person who lives there or is allowed to live there.AndyC wrote:Green Card holder here. In person - nobody has ever said anything of the sort to my face, perhaps because I can - without bragging - out-shoot most of them anyway *shrug*
