I feel better hearing about it here, and seeing better analysis and commentary from y'all than the goobers they interview on TV about these incidents...

I have one of those Uncle Mike's, I used it when I first started taking classes and entering IDPA matches. I didn't know any better, but it didn't feel as sloppy as described. I used it to hold my Kimber 1911 Pro Carry. Since then, I've been using a Kydex slider.

Why not? I am one, (security guard, not holster) and I rag on some of the chimps-barely-in-uniform that the companies hire more than anybody. It's pretty much the favorite pastime among the rest of us to poke fun at those who went in to security because they were physically or mentally unsuitable for positions like door greeter at WalMart, and at the HR department that hired them. I'm no Charles Atlas by any stretch or sprain of the imagination, I don't spend an hour getting every item of my uniform looking textbook perfect before my shift, and I don't take a microscope to every inch of my foot patrol route, but I've been the fittest, sharpest dressed, and most attentive guard on the roster at more than one site.

OTOH, it does make things easier for us in some ways; people expect us not to care, or even to pay attention, so it doesn't take an award-winning performance to look like we're just filling the chair and going through the motions. It's somewhat amusing how many people assume they can get away with something right in front of one of us.

I think the newspaper is right. They meant poured. (i.e. spreading out in all area just like water goes in every nook and cranny.) Check your dictionary or english class.

Unless the cops were just stomping over the SUV in droves, (lousy way to preserve evidence) they meant pored.

Don't even think about getting me started on the "there/their/they're," "to/too/two," or the "every word that end's with s need's an apostrophe" abuses of the language. I see those in the papers all the time too.

I could excuse the holster but not the retention strap. This, as you said
is dangerous and unexcusable. I think I would walk up to him and say
something like,--" I see you don't have your gun secured. what if I walked
up behind you and took it away from you"?--- I wonder what he would say?

Unlike most in here, I learned the Queen's English while you might have learned American. Most don't accept that they are two different languages. But they are many words that are spelled and used differently.

I have to tote a defense for the Uncle Mike's holster.
Until recently, I only had one holster. It is an all Kydex IWB from Blade-Tech. It is great for concealment, but a real pain in the butt. And since I wear it at 4:30 - 5:00, it actually is.
So, I started looking for a high riding OWB that I could wear under an untucked shirt. And guess what I found. An Uncle Mikes OWB for $21.99. It has an optional adjustable retention strap and rides well high enough that it vanishes under a shirt. I can not tell you how much more comfortable it is. The nylon conforms, as opposed to the Kydex and I absolutely love it.

I concede that there are some offerings that are sad excuses for holsters, but the one that I have found is absolutely wonderful.

This thing is a wonderful fit for a Beretta PX4!!! (although I can't in good conscience recommend wearing a braided belt with it )

Well, if they'd educate the Queen better, maybe she'd know what word to use, too.

I thought I had a British dictionary around here, but I just looked and all mine include "toothpaste" ao they must not be.
