I believe in preparing my children (age 6) but how do you prepare them for something like this? We talk about gun safety at home and what to do if they find a gun at a friends house but what do you tell them to do in a school environment? So sad for these families!

Not only was it in a "Gun-free" zone, but also in a state that I assume has very strict gun laws and "May issue" CHL.
So as I see it, all the laws to prevent this were already in place.

I'm going to guess that one of the weapons was a 9mm Glock, perhaps with a 30-round magazine.
So expect callls for large magazine bans at the very least.

Horrible. I'm in absolute shock as to how someone could be this evil. And evil is exactly what it is.

It's sadly ironic that CT was also where perhaps the worst home-invasion crime took place back in 2007, and is almost as if the people there are somehow easier victims.

According to Fox News, police have recovered a Glock and a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun. A police officer said the shooter also had a .223 caliber rifle, but that hasn't been confirmed.

This is absolutely terrible. Tragic. Awful. Apparently the shooting started in the Kindergarten. Why does such evil exist in our world?
My prayers go out to the young families, who now are missing a most important part of their lives.
I cannot fathom the grief they must be experiencing right now.
My prayers also go to the first responders, for what they have seen, and to the hero's as I am sure their were many there that morning. Finally to the police, who I am sure we will hear that some were killed or wounded doing their job of stopping this insanity.
My prayers to you all.

How tragic! My oldest will be kindigarden age next year. I could not even begin to imagine what these families will be going through. Just simply unimaginable!
Gun owners buckle up, it's going to be a rough ride.

Michael Moore wastes no time in calling for more gun control.

This is about the worst thing anyone can imagine! My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those killed and injured.
They need armed guards at schools K-12 and campus carry at colleges. These insane people only attack schools because they know they are gun free. The administrators have only themselves to blame as it could have been avoided! Sad really sad.

Spokesperson for the police there has reported only one gunman who is dead and the school has been searched.
My husband described the madman as much more than sick. He was possessed. Until we follow Israel's lead to arm and train our school personnel, this will happen again. Only next time, the perp(s) will have a higher death toll as their goal.

Just saw this on CNN"s website.
"A few more details from the White House press briefing earlier. White House spokesman Jay Carney said while today is not the day to debate gun policy, an assault weapons ban "does remain a commitment" of President Obama."
If you want one you better get it soon.

Reports now say gunman was 20 years old and has ties to the school. He had two handguns (Glock and Sig) as well as a .223 rifle (assuming AR-type) and was dressed in black military type clothing with a vest.
