S&W M&P40 to replace Glock 22

IMO and I have owned both (still own Glock 22) I like the Glock better. Both are pretty simple, but the Glock is so easy to work on and clean........I am going all Glock except for one exception my Kimber.

I thinking of going with something other than my Glock 30 for carry, it just broke on me for the second time in the last 2,000 rds., not sure if I just have a lemon or it is common, but i'm losing confidence. First time the slide stop spring broke, which caused the slide lock to "walk" out and the slide to just about come off the gun. Now last weekend, the slide catch spring broke causing it lock open after each round. On the bright side, the gun never jams, except when it breaks!

Gen 3 or 4?

It's a Gen 3, I already ordered a slide catch and spring from Glockmeister, I just hate sending my guns off for repair. I'm kinda wondering if this thing is just a lemon. I have countless rounds through my Gen. 1 - 21 and it has never broken, Maybe it's day is coming. Now that i've calmed down a bit, I may just use it as an excuse to get a Gen. 4 - 30.

I know several police officers in the APD that will spit fire when you talk to them about being forced to switch to the M&P. Of course, you will find others that are extremely happy about it. Doesn't seem to be much middle ground though.

I had a 10 year old gen 3 with a broken slide rail. Sent it to Glock and they sent it back with a completely new receiver. If you send it they will make it right.

Curious if the officers who're against M&P are against the gun itself, or against being mandated that they will carry a particular gun .... seems they've had it nice for a while now - being able to carry pretty much anything they wanted (within in reason and on "the list") ... I've seen APD officers at GTs carrying ported Glock competition guns (34?35?), and any number of other various guns and calibers.

I wonder if SAPD got a sweetheart of a deal from Smith and Wesson? I am sure their marketing department helped to secure the sell too? I wonder if The department is paying for accessories such as belts and holsters?

Some departments have gotten free pistols, with an agreement to buy "x" number of mags, and other accessories along with spare parts. A shrewd attempt to recover market share.
