Not being able to sling-shot the slide and magazines that don't want to drop free are two of the most annoying features of the 22/45 out of the box. Fortunately, there are a couple of very easy modifications that address both of these issues. For instructions on how to get the sling-shot feature, check out this page http://guntalk-online.com/2245detailstripping.htm. Its a great 22/45 resource in general as it outlines everything. For the sling-shot mod its as simple as removing a ball detent and spring, and its easily reversible. Additionally, you might want to look into the Bam bushing or the Tandem Kross bushing. These will eliminate the magazine disconnect, and at the same time cause the mags to drop free.

The best part about both of these is that they're easy for even a novice to do, and can be changed back to factory configuration with ease. Either way enjoy the 22/45. Its a great gun and one of the best .22 pistols I've ever shot. The learning curve of assembly/disassembly is a little steep, but once you've done it a few times it makes it easier.
SigM4, Thank you very much for the info. I now have a 22/45 that I can sling-shot

I have been eyeing one of those for a while. I bought the conversion kit for my 9mm and shoot that to cut costs and it it keeps me in the same gun sight picture as my 9, but it sure isn't as pretty. Does anyone know if the conversions are allowed in the matches or does it have to be an original equipment only?

Haven't tried cleaning it yet beyond a bore snake. I have heard it's a pain.
I made a video last night demonstrating how easy this gun is to assemble with some practice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb82IlfNzNg. I took about a minute to break down and put back together. This is around my 5 or 6 time doing this. The pin in now easier to put in place by hand.

Once the pin goes in by hand, it seems like a little light goes off and suddenly its a snap. I've heard rumors that you even get to the point where banging on the grip frame to either separate it from or attach it to the upper barrel isn't required, rather you can put it together by hand, some say this will come with time. However, at this point I think its just an old wives tail. I'll believe it when I see it.
