As a Baylor grad, there are many names on that list that I recognize. Very sad to lose so much respect for those people on that list...

And yes, even at Baylor, there is an infestation of the ignorant progressive mindset among the professors and administration.

And Baylor is one of the most conservative major universities we have. It makes even A&M look like Berkley.

My daughter wants to go to Baylor in a couple of years...I might need to rethink that!

Why? So she can go someplace more progressive? It's still the most conservative campus in the state. (Of major universities)

TSRA announcement

Speaker Joe Straus Open To Pro-Gun Legislation
Dear TSRA Members, Family and Friends:

If you recently received an out-of-state alert or read a blog attacking the Texas Speaker of the House, thank you for noticing the inaccuracies, bad information and for not calling the Speaker's office or a member of the Legislature.

Earlier this month a letter was sent from this same out-of-Texas source attacking HB 972 by Rep. Fletcher and SB 182 by Sen. Birdwell. These two bills, hammered-out over two previous legislative sessions, would allow adult students, faculty and staff with a concealed handgun license to have this important personal safety option as they go about their daily activities on a college campus.

The letter was followed by an email alert which blames the impending loss of these bills and other pro-gun bills on Speaker of the House Joe Straus.

Nothing in the alert was correct.

All Legislation in Texas is alive and well. Gun bills are in very good shape, thanks to an ongoing and open relationship with leadership in both chambers of the Texas Legislature.

You might recall during last session, after 8 long years, TSRA was able to pass SB 321, the Employee Protection Act. We also passed SB 766 to protect safe shooting ranges from frivolous lawsuits. These two important bills passed with help from Speaker of the House Joe Straus and Lt. Governor David Dewhurst in the Senate.

As in past Legislative Sessions, House and Senate Committees begin hearing testimony on bills as filing ends. The close for bill filing is tomorrow. The process will now begin to push forward.

This is not the time for misinformation or inaccuracies from a source having no presence in Texas, no "boots on the ground".

While TSRA strongly supports and encourages diversity of opinion, the attack on the Texas Speaker was unfounded, incorrect and an embarrassing distraction at best.
Sincere? Or flies with honey?

Not likely with the same people in charge who let it die at least twice already. (2009, 2011)

Talk to me about unfounded, incorrect and embarrassing when the Legislative session is ended and the bills have passed. I'm temporarily from Missouri regarding all Conservative bills this session.

Don't understand it. why professors are against campus carry. I was a professor for a few years. I hated not being able to carry. Always worried about some wack job student that failed my classes...some w/ 69 :evil2: seriously...

I attended a campus carry "seminar" at UT Arlington during the last legislative session. Based on the comments by the "moderator" (haranguer-in-chief) and the President of that school, it is all about control. They are in control and don't want the Legislature or anyone else telling them what to do. They "know what is good" for their students and "want to keep them safe." You would have needed a semi-trailer to cart away the mis-information that they they doled out to the seminar attendees.

Coloradoans appear to have been successful in derailing the bill that would have banned concealed permit carry on Colorado campuses. Colorado's situation is a bit different then Texas' on this issue. It wasn't a statute that prohibited CHP campus carry . It was the logger-heads in university administration, before the CO Supreme Court ruled against them.

If the rabid anti-2A in control of the Colorado General Assembly can be halted by 2A supporters, Texas shouldn't have any problem passing campus concealed carry this session.

Everyone seems to be ignoring TSRA's defense of Joe Strauss.

I expected some spirited comments to follow.

You say "defense"...

Did they actually endorse him???

I do not have that data...

I have not heard any defense. A not guilty plea maybe but no alibi or evidence
