I meant to have 'other (i.e. mix in pelvic shot)' and I probably should have added 'direct headshot' to the poll options.

I'm a COM kinda guy...

But what I try to remember is that when you are questioned (and a legal mind would concur here) about your "shooting"...Remember the words you use (terminology) can possibly get you raked over the coals more ways than none...

I would be very plain, and not elaborate on terms like Mozambique, zipper or golden triangle type terms in how I happen to shoot someone...

Not to offend anyone with their ideas at all...I think they are all admirable techniques and practice methods...I just think it could be used against you if you start in with all the talk about how you classified the "style" in which you shoot at a threat...Whether it was a justifiable shoot or not....

Its good we train, and train well to the best of our abilities, but when it comes down to explaining what happened...It may be best to be very humble and demure about it...The way you tell the story does not change the facts...Your "demeanor" does go on record I believe and could be used against you...

But thats just me...

Wilson hit the bad guy more than once COM. Bad guy was wearing body armor and did not go down.

I have been thinking about how to practice this and what to call it ever since.

I didn't notice that I missed the word "Hips" in the last sentence of my last post.

On the range I can make standing, 2 hand, 25 yard headshots most of the time, but under pressure with adreneline going... I'd much rather have a rifle or be somewhere else.

Being 20 yards from a BG with body armor and an AK who is gunning for you is a bad situation.

Remember he ran from his apartment or something across a street to engage the BG...

I would think a good test would be to simulate the same thing...

At PSC you could run from the big blue building to one of the pistol bays up the "club" road, and try to hit a head size target at 25 yards...

I'd be game to give something like that a go...But you'd have to be "hot"...And I think that would be a safety concern, unless we got some kind of signoff from the executive committee to run a test like that...

I got to shut up and get my membership...echhh...

Cover - - - cover is our friend. Body armor is cover, anything that will stop or deflect a bullet is cover. Some forms of cover are better than others. Any cover beats no cover. Concealment will also help but cover is your greatest ally in a gunfight. The Hollywood image of the GG standing still and standing tall defeating the BG is a fairy tale. Cover along with a good tactical plan will win the day. The word for staying alive is - - - COVER.
