We deal with this in Carrollton as well.

Don't bother complaining; they all cover for each other like you've never seen.
If you complain, you may never get mail again. The postmaster in Carrollton told me this himself.
And he was serious.

There's no command and control. Employees see the worthless management and emulate it to the nth degree.

I used to be acquainted with 2 mail carriers; their biggest topic of discussion was on how to get out of work on some phony medical claim and still get paid to sit at home watching TV.

Its the civil service equivalent to welfare.

And, no I don't like them....at all.

Sure, once a year I might get a letter in my box for someone else, but it's quite rare. Yes, my mail deliver times have fluctuated at times. As for the price of postage, I have a letter to deliver to my friend in Alaska where I used to live. I'll offer the same rate, to anyone accepting my offer to deliver it for me, as the USPS charges - door to door in 3-4 days. So, my offer is $.46. Pick it up at my house tomorrow and have it there ASAP. :biggrinjester:
I'll gladly do it. As long as I get all the same privileges and powers granted to the USPS.

About the only issue I have had is a late notice of delivery attempt... ie tried to deliver a signature USPS package on Tue .. I was not home... so the card was written,, but not left in the box til WED, meaning I did not go to the PO until Thur.... so I lost ONE day on delivery time.
Aren't those rural carriers essentially contractors using their own vehicles, etc..? If so, perhaps they aren't lifelong civil servants who don't care about service....

Yes they are,, but the postal folks at the local office in Kempner are just as friendly and efficient.. Now Killeen postal folks... no thanks.

Today I left a letter on the box to be picked up and it was still on the box after my mail was delivered. :banghead: And yes it was stamped and legibly addressed. Why change the system so drastically when it makes no sense to remove someone familiar with the "client base" and provides outstanding service? Is this the new USPS?
Are you sure you don't live in South Irving near me? "rlol"

My mail carrier was promoted about 8 months ago. I thank the Lord I have great neighbors because we are constantly meeting giving each other the right mail. He/she is never the same and is 99% wrong on most days.

P.S. I am glad that I do not have that job and I appreciate all the Letter Carriers. I just wished I had my old one back.

It's Bush's fault. If it's not his fault, it's the republican sequestration's fault.

I'm lucky. Where I live, we've had the same 2 carriers for the last 5 years. The regular driver is awesome. Unless she's got a TON of mail, she always hits out house between 1130 and 1200, rarely ever delivers mail to the wrong house (and usually that's because it was sent to the wrong address), and, if I'm working in my garage/woodshop, brings the mail up to me instead of dropping it in the mailbox. Her relief driver is almost as good, but he runs the route backwards, and so doesn't deliver until around 1430-1500.

Ugh. Mail carriers.

Over the last two years, my wife and I have had mis-delivered mail, "lost" mail, stolen mail (but delivered, empty envelopes), opened mail, late mail, "insufficient postage" (when an identical letter was taken, same day, same carrier), repeated "insufficient postage" despite an envelope covered in stamps, destroyed mail, and are currently wondering where an expected package is (the carrier either still has it, even though the told us he delivered it, or he left it where someone else could steal it, ie, not in our mailbox or a locked box with a key in our mailbox).

When we complain, we get stonewalled. Angrily stonewalled, at that, by the postmaster himself.

I know there are some (a few) good carriers out there, but IMO, the USPS is the biggest bunch of arrogant incompetents and thieves outside of Washington, D.C.

Frankly, I'd be happy ending the mail altogether. Other than a few magazines, which I could read online or pay extra for, all I get are a very few bills and a metric ton of junk mail (that doesn't have to pay the same rates I pay).

I don't vountarily send or use the USPS for, well anything.

The rural subdivision I live in had a change of postman about three years ago. It was a great opportunity to meet our neighbors, and since we already had a common interest, a chance to stop and talk a bit. One day I delivered mail found in my mailbox to a lady I didn’t know and she calls the post office right then to complain. The supervisor she spoke to said, “He’s still in training…” to which she replied, “when does he get to the letter ‘G’?”

I laughed my butt off and we have been friends ever since. We now get our mail delivered correctly so I guess he got past ‘G’.

Ha! When I complained about similar, the only response I got was an email some months later asking how they did at handling my complaint.

The USPS is the buggy whip of the 21st century...relatively soon to be a quaint anachronism.
