I've yet to see a 30.06 posted AMC Theater. Oh, I've seen some rather halfhearted attempts; 8.5"x11" sheets of paper w/ the 30.06 language, gun buster signs, etc. If you've seen an AMC Theater that is posted, correctly, can you tell us where?

Has anyone else noticed similar situations, or do you have a comment?

The establishment must derive 51% or greater of their profit from the sale of alcohol for on-premises consumption to be considered a "bar" for our purposes.

Most AMC's are incorrectly posted. The signs I've seen at AMC theaters have all been on an 8.5"x11" piece of paper.
I used to go to the one near Westheimer and Dunvale it was correctly posted. I was in large white letters on the glass door.

Keith was a big help in reminding me of the Texas alcohol database which informs whether the gun sign should be blue or red.

I believe this is the link: http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/PublicInquiry/Status.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

We know about Russell's website. That doesn't answer RottenApple's question.

Have you seen an AMC theater with your own eyes that had a sign that met the legal requirements for effective notice?

Yep. Very good resource. I use it often. That being said, of the 23 AMC Theater entries on Texas3006.com, only 2 claim to be valid postings. And both of those were posted 2 & 3 years ago, respectively. It's quite possible that they have the correct wording but, like every AMC I've ever been to, it's printed on an 8.5"x11" paper. There are 3 "unsure" listings, and all of them have comments stating (essentially) "right language; not even close to the right size".

So. I'll ask again: If you've seen an AMC Theater that is posted (btw, if it doesn't meet the legal requirements, it is NOT posted), correctly, can you tell us where?

A picture show that sells hooch? HORRORS! Next thing you know, they'll have a smoking section in the balcony or somewhere.

Let's hear it for Netflix, eh?

However, I haven't seen a 51 sign at any of them. IIRC but alcohol sales have to make up 50% or more of revenues correct? I doubt a theater is going to meet that standard, and even then I believe they have to post no?
Just so I don't start a new thread I dug up this one.

Moviehouse and Eatery opened a new location in Keller we went tonight sadly I purchased my tickets online when I got to the front door a 3006 was staring me in the face so I had to do the walk of shame, this will be last time I spend any money there. Now it was a nice place but at $100 for a dinner & movie not nice enough.

I sure wish you would have posted this at texas3006.com .... I did the same thing today. Bought tickets online and saw the 3006 while I was in the parking lot. I searched texas3006 before purchasing and there was no listing. I should have searched here too... my bad.

I added the listing to texas3006. It should show up in a few days.

I spoke with the manager as well. We had a pleasant chat about why I would not be back and can he really afford to chase away business. He also said he was a CHL holder. I politely explained that his sign would only keep out the law abiding. He understood clearly and explained that the edict for the 3006 came from ownership in Austin.

Given that the location is in Keller Town Center, I need to do some research and see if this business owns the property or leases it from the City. TAD.org does not pull up any results for the address 250 Rufe Snow Drive. The minutes of City Council meetings identifies Realty Capitol Town Center LTD as the "owner" (but I'm not sure if that's the land owner or facility owner or...), P&S Real Estate Investments I, LLC as the developer and Moviehouse Management, LLC as the operator..... None of these pull anything up in the TAD database either.

I'm guessing that it's not City property, but I'll call TAD and try to verify tomorrow.

I assume the Austin location is also posted.... Someone from Austin might want to post it to texas3006 after confirming.

Here's a bit of good news...
In the 2 days since my chat with the manager at Moviehouse and Eatery in Keller they took down their 30.06 sign. :hurry:

I posted the location on Texas3006.com and it was picked up by a user there "Dallas Al" who emailed the manager as well. I suppose there were others that might have communicated to management as well. If you did, GOOD JOB! It worked.

The 30.06 sign was replaced with a TABC Blue (Unlicensed Possession) sign. I'll stop by and thank the management when I get a chance.
If you try the Moviehouse and Eatery in Keller, be sure to thank the manager for removing the sign...

Lesson: Be polite and professional, but let them know they've lost your business. Sometimes it works.!

(I updated the texas3006 webmaster about the sign removal.... it should be updated online shortly.)

That is amazing news. I haven't heard of such a thing happening since Taco Cabana and that took much longer IIRC.
