I posted on another forum that the sound effect was far too clear and the camera would have shaken at LEAST a little bit with a shotgun going off that close. Plus no smoke, no pieces of ceiling, etc.
I did a lot of stupid videos when I was a kid so it's a little easier for me to spot certain things

I did a little looking around the 'Net. Yep, as you said, the dude faked the video just to get hits...and it worked. He's done similar videos before knowing the subject would garner hits.

that is a really cool feature. turns out that when you, 'pull this thing' then 'push that thing up' then pull the trigger, the shotgun does what it's supposed to do!!
outstanding example of darwinism at work... this guy won't be around long.
