I was single for quite a number of years.
I had a number of girlfriends during that time and any that raised their voice to me was promptly an ex-girlfriend. I wouldn't engage in shouting back or be baited into arguing either. I would very peacefully and quietly show them the door.
I need serenity.
The world is full of girlfriends who don't act like harridans.

Haha, every girlfriend eventually becomes a wife. Regardless how you look at it. Granted she did give me 500 rounds of 45ACP one year for Christmas. I've been with her for 4 years now. Who knows, I may pop the question as soon as my finances are right.
I'm sure she'll be happy to know I have ammo when we go shooting though. It's not like she understands how hard it is to obtain ammo nowadays.
I'm sure a lot of you show your man card around here, but when you're away from the keyboard, you do what's right for the relationship, eh?

My wife doesn't mind reminding me that, with the life insurance, I'm worth more dead than alive. But its really annoying when the kids remind me too, and the dogs remind me, and the parakeet...

Lol. Your man card, hand it over.

If it's a bad relationship, sometimes the best thing is to end it and walk away. Straight/gay, man/woman/turtle, whatever.

Hmmm. The SO/receipt angle is interesting. Not a problem for me, however. Well, most of the time anyway.
I didn't have alcohol, so that's out.
Still an idunno. Not gonna let it bother me.

I needed shower soap and band-aids, but as always headed back to SG to check the ammo situation. Nothing interesting wrt my usual stalking interests (9mm, .45, and .223/5.56), but I am breaking in a new Mossberg 930 JM Pro and decided to pick up four boxes of Win AA Heavy Target Load.
When I got to the register, the clerk asked me if I wanted to split my goods into two purchases, sundries
then ammo.
I inquired as to why I would want to do that. The response: "We'll, in case there are problems later."
I said sure, and paid for the ammo with my Amex Gold Card.
I thought about this on the way home. Did the clerk think that I maybe couldn't afford the ammo? Why?
I'm a 6'4", 300#, 48 year-old Caucasian male. I'll admit that I wasn't looking my sharpest today: untucked grey pocket T, khaki cargo pants, black NB running shoes, two-day beard. Hey, it's a holiday and this is Wally World.
Thoughts?
Maybe farfetched, .....but Winchester has a rebate on AA shells and it requires the original receipt. Maybe the Wally World checker is a shooter

and wanted to make sure you had a receipt for the other stuff if you decided to bring something back. I had to have Academy refund mine because they rang up 10 boxes with some code that totaled the price (10x individual $). The problem being it didn't show Winchester AA shells, just the sku# and total, so had them rung up individually after the refund

There must be some advantage to this; Every time I go to Wal-Mart, the people in front of me want to separate their orders. This is one of many reasons I avoid going there at all cost.

I've only seen people have separate receipts for billing purposes (on different credit cards for rewards or credit limit, food stamps, company reimbursement, etc) or to hide a purchase from a SO. I don't like like going to Walmart because it is overcrowded with few lanes open. That and I tend to have the bad luck of ending up in the slow lane behind the one lady with a stack of ads to price match.

Yes. I make it an active practice to avoid Wally World (except the optemetrist who the family likes) for just this reason. It seemd to get particularly bad about a year ago. With the bullet freakout I have no reason to go there.

I stopped going to Walmart when I realized I could get everything at the same price, or cheaper, using the combination of HEB and the internet.

But you don't get the ambiance that way.

Ambiance?!?!?!?! Is THAT what we are calling it now??? Last time I was at Wally World, I was standing behind a very... ummmm.... large person.... who didn't believe in either deodorants or showers evidently. They had enough "ambiance" to make my stomach churn!

(and that was just last night because it's the only store in town open at 9:45 p.m. when my toilet decided to leak)

For years, I avoided Walmart thinking it sold nothing but dollar store-like merchandise.
I was wrong.
They sell a lot of quality and yes, some less than quality stuff, but overall good quality at as low a cost as your likely to find.
As for the customers, I like em.
They're entertaining...and ah, I'm one of em...
