The way I read the story, the son and his wife had gotten out of his car to wash it when Taylor approached them. It sounds like he didn't even realize Taylor followed him into the car wash until he ambushed him.

In my humble opinion, a lot of this would stop if LE would actively enforce the laws on “tailgating”, improper left turn, inattentive driving (or another law that would cover texting or talking on the phone) and other moving violations instead of just speeding.
We don’t need a law about texting while driving. I am sure there are laws on the books that will cover those and many other situations.
