There must be something wrong with my speakers, I don't hear a thing.

Actually, cranked to full volume I can detect something.

Three years of sea duty in the Navy, as a Gunner's Mate, firing 5 inch guns with cotton for hearing protection and none at all for anything smaller. The cotton served to soak up the blood from the ruptured ear drums.

I'm 54 and I hear it, even with the volume turned down for my office environment.

Got it in, and wore it tonight while walking the dogs. Absolutely love it, and I think I just found a new mode of carry. It is tacticool, because a couple of teenagers asked me where I got it! Man, I am in style and packing!
