I was just reading the gun range thread on this club and he said he did the second level membership. That VIP membership is 7500 dollars initiation dues and 240 dollars a month! that is some serious exclusivity right there. I would rather put that kind of money into some land I can shoot on.

I think I am going to do the one Beiruty did. It's 450 a year, now that they are open and 410 to renew per year. No range fees. I would get my money's worth. I currently pay around 100 a year at bullet trap and then have to spend about 250 a year on a "shooter card" to cover my range usage. Bullet trap is a real dive compared to the Frisco Range. Same owners by the way.

If you don't mind employees that tend to shoot themselves... That makes me REAL nervous. Especially on opening weekend.

If it is some of the same guys from bullet trap I am not surprised. My guess is that arrogance contributed. Bullet Trap has a few "secrets" as well. Even had a suicide or three there over the years. Just about any range I have been to has a certain risk factor. I just keep my head on a swivel and don't mind being rude if someone is behaving in a manner that risks my life.

Another trick I use is going shooting during the week while everyone else is at work. I cannot deal with large crowds.

I am sorry, I can not justify to pay $10,000 for the first year and $2,400/yr, thereafter. I am a Platinum member. No range fees for me.

Most likely said employee grabbed the slide of the pistol from the front side with his left hand's palm and wanted to rack the slide back with force to slide it back while at the same time his trigger finger is not off the trigger. Force and counter force, lead to tightening of his trigger finger and resulting of discharge of live round in the barrel.

What I would have recommended is that each new shooter should attend a 3-mins "safety briefing" with an RO before he is on the firing line.

One of my pet peeves is when news labels something an "accidental" shooting, when it was clearly a negligent shooting.

I agree. To me that is almost as irritating as "clip" instead of magazine. LOL

If they put an much emphasis on Employee safety training, as they do the Anal retentive Form 4473 they make customers jump through they would have less issues. Ive had them void a 4473 and tell me to restart it because I couldn't legibly write out Indianapolis Indiana in the 3/4 inch City State spot on the form. They also insist that you spell out Texas for state and the month of birth, again in a 1/3 inch long field designed for a number.

I purchased a gun a couple weeks ago and the gun store handed me an iPad so I could do the form electronically. It was very efficient. No more trying to write tiny letters in the small spaces. They printed out the completed form for me to sign. I hope they all go to this.

I went to the Frisco Gun Club on Friday the 13th(bad Idea?). The lobby and range are very nice and plenty of room to set up and shoot. I wish they would put some chairs in shooting area. I was a little concerned with the safety though. I've been to a couple ranges and shoot regularly on some private land so I am very familiar with range etiquette and safety. While signing in, all they required from me was to read a sheet of rules at the counter. I was shown to my lane and that was it. No, "walk through" of rules, , regulations, safety requirements and reminders, where I can set up, load, etc. So the story about the accidental shooting does not surprise me.

To further my concerns, I can hear some jack-hole rapid firing in the room next to me! No staff member was in either room to insure safety and rules were being followed. And when a staff member finally did show up in that room, he swept brass off the floor and didn't say anything to the "Lethal Weapon" guy. This really concerns me with so many newbies getting into guns and wanting to go to the new range.

On the flip side, I went to the Eagle gun range in Lewisville and they had safety as the paramount goal of their facility. They had 1-2 staff members in each room and were walking me through rules and safety reminders all the way to the point I was loaded and ready to shoot.

I hope the FGC get's their act together soon. It's a great facility and I'd hate it to get a bad rap for safety right off the bat. I was going to bring my daughter there, but I will hold off until I know they are putting safety first.

That was my thinking. I plan to join in January. I am spending too much money on Christmas. Maybe we can meet up there to do some shooting after I join.

THat makes a LOT more sense for them .... less chance I will want to strangle them .....
