Your vet reminds me of ours. Our vet has a motorhome that he has converted to a full blown clinic and 2 days a week he is working out of it instead of his office. He will come to your home or business. 4 years ago our little mixed breed that we had had for 12 years at the time needed surgery to remove literally thousands of bladder stones and we were told she would have to stay at his office for a couple of days so he could keep an eye on her. He performed the surgery and all was well until the next morning. We had an unexpected ice storm (supposed to be south and west of us) hit. We got a call from his nurse (also his wife) wanting permission to take our little Gidget home with them in his mobile clinic for the weekend so they could watch her. Of course we said yes. Little did we know at the time that they were at their house in Mansfield and his office was in Irving. They drove about 60 miles round trip in that mess just to keep an ey on our little Gidget. Needless to say he is and always will be our vet. BTW, we lost Gidget 2 years ago at the age of 16. When Dr. Aglar was told of the loss he started crying and offered to come and get her and have her cremated at no charge. We did not allow him to do this but we did take her to him and paid for the cremation.

When you can find that special vet, doctor, or whatever, it makes you believe in humanity again and you will be with them for a long time to come.

Again, I am so sorry about Millie and you and Martha are in our prayers.

I'm very sorry for you loss. I have my old buddy that I've had since I was 20 and he is goingn on 14 yrs next month. There is nothing you can do to prepare yourself for the inevitable when they tell you it's time to go but just think on all the good memories they gave you.

I am sorry for your loss. We had a vet who was like that, very late in the evening he came to our home to care for our injury pet. He did everything he could and stayed with him till the end with was around 1am.

Choosing a pet is the only time you get to choose a relative.

My condolences to you and your wife. Pets make us human and I know, in time, you and your wife will find another.

I am sorry to hear about Millie, and relieved to hear she had such a conscientious friend with her when she passed. I know of the heartache that comes with losing a friend like Millie, it is tough. Bless you and your family and all critters everywhere.

This is a different kind of loss as our furry family members are completely innocent and dear creatures.

I could have gone all day without reading of your loss. It brings back memories of when we had to let our beloved Mindy go after 17 years. Our vet and his wife came to our house. Mindy went to rest in Martha's arms. She'll be at Rainbow Bridge waiting for us.

Sorry to hear of you loss, but that vet sounds like my kind of vet. We had a 16 year old German Shepperd who developed a tooth abscess. The vet removed the tooth and "Napoleon" looked like he was doing ok for awhile, then he went rapidly down hill and couldn't even stand up. He was our first dog and we had adopted him from a shelter as a puppy. Our kids grew up with him. His loss hit us hard.

I have not found any vets who did not care deeply about their patients. Maybe I have been lucky, but I suspect the rigors of veterinary school would weed out those whose hearts were not in it. Your vet does sound special, going above and beyond and giving you peace of mind. My heart goes out to you.

So sorry to hear the loss of your furry family member. I know how much you guys love and care for your animals, so know the hurt is big when you lose one. Prayers for you and Martha during your time of sorrow.

As for your vet, that is one great guy. We have a family vet who is just like that and his love for the animals is why he does what he does. I have known the man for 35 years and he still cries along with the family when he has to put down a sick friend.

Sorry for your loss. It's always difficult to part ways. My darn monitor is fogging up again.

Charles it has been almost two years since I lost my beagle, Thunder. Still look for him in the rear view mirror when I back in the drive of the afternoon. He was always there to greet me both with his presence and his awesome beagle voice. Condolences to you and your wife.
