Finallyy got achance to check out some Fwith 00 with Flite Control, but could only find the 3" mag. Stuffreally does hold a tight pattern. 12 pellets at about 1350 fps and a tight 7-ich pattern at 15 yards - should do the trick. Still like the Hornady moving out at 1600 fps with 3 less pellets and just slightly larger pattern. Decisions, decisions!!

Just about any brand of buck shot will do the job in a inside the house situation. Now deer hunting I would only use Federal flight control . It about the same with Slugs. That big ole chunk of lead is a sledgehammer.

I just got off the range where I ran a quick pattern of my 12 ga 870 with the 20" smooth bore IC with rifle sights.

Remington 000BK. Just the plain-Jane stuff. 2 3/4"

5 yds max spread = 3"
10 yds max spread = 7 1/8"
15 yds max spread = 10 1/2"

I can live with this.

In my house I'd be hard pressed to have to shoot farther than 15 yds. More likely it would be about 15'. Living out in the country I don't have to worry about neighbors and my son is about to move out so over penetration doesn't concern me a whole lot.
