Laser Grip

as a follow up from my last post.... been practicing dry fire with snap caps.... pamphlet says sighted at 50 feet, best i can tell is that at about 50 feet the dot is covered by the front sight so it looks on... only drawback is that if i keep my finger along side the receiver above the trigger is that it blocks the beam... figure that an inherit problem with laser grips.... other than that i like them... with weather permitting might be able to get to the range soon.... if not will probably be able to go to the range in Tyler next week

so for now, I'll just keep my three dot sights... and thanks to to the other shooter... hopefully this isn't putting down the other guy.... it just showed me how hard to shoot with a laser sight....

You have it backward. If your assertion were true, the people who shoot for keeps every day would shun lasers and all optical sights like the plague. The truth is as has been stated. The laser is the messenger of how well or poorly you're holding on target. Control the laser and your shooting proficiency will go up. For most people the difference will be dramatic.

Should have added this. The laser does not make you a better shooter, it'd helps you see areas where improvement is needed in sight alignment and trigger control. They do have some very valid benefits in situation others have already mentioned.

I choose to see that as a feature rather than a drawback or problem. If you're using your pistol at night, do you really want your laser sight to act like a beacon, giving away your position? You don't need the laser until you put your finger on the trigger. At that point, your finger is not blocking it.

True, you could accomplish the same thing by letting up on the switch with your middle finger, but in a high stress situation, fine motor control goes out the window. If you train to keep your finger on the slide until you're ready to shoot, the problem takes care of itself.

Again, just my opinion. It's worth exactly what you paid for it.

You're welcome. I didn't come to that conclusion overnight, myself.

I'll guess you've already noticed the mistake in my post. I didn't mean to say keep your finger on the slide. I meant the side of the frame. The bottom line is you got the idea because you've already noticed your finger blocking the laser.
