One of my husband's Customers has their concealed carry license from Oklahoma and he was told he can only have one gun on him at a time. for concealed use. Now he does have a double padlocked 2 compartment zipper range bag. The bag is keep under the bunk in the side box, with a trigger lock on it and a slide lock on it for target practice. The Gun it in one zipper and the ammo and unloaded magazines are in the otehr. And each padlock is keyed differently.A .45 cal get expensive. He has never been hassled about it because it us not concealed carry. That falls under just going to a range. It might be extreme but better safe then sorry. IF you can not carry ammo higher then a .45 then how would you carry a bigger gun. It would have to be empty and that isn't going to help you if it is a shoot or be hurt situation.

One of Oklahoma states finest has told him that as long as it is "stored" like that he can not be in violation of the more then one concealed carry. and

The word pistol is it.

Unless they get real persnickety and say a .45acp (.451) or .45 Colt (.452) is over .45 cal, this really isn't much of an issue.

The .454 Casull, although the same bore as the .45 Colt would probably, but not necesarily, be consider over .45 cal.

The larger calibers that I can think of are .475 and .500 Linebaugh, .480 Ruger, and .50 GI.

Most of these are not ideal concealed carry guns, although an argument could be made for the Ruger Alaskan in .454 or .480.

However, quite often I have more than one handgun on my person and almost always more than one in my vehicle. So this would be an issue for me and I have found no mention of the one gun limit.

TITLE 21 § 1290.6. Prohibited ammunition
PROHIBITED AMMUNITION
Any concealed handgun when carried in a manner authorized by the
provisions of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act, Sections 1 through 25 of this act, when loaded with any ammunition which is either a restricted bullet as defined by Section 1289.19 of Title 21 of the Oklahoma Statutes or is larger than .45 caliber or is otherwise prohibited by law shall be deemed a prohibited weapon for purposes of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act.

Heh. This reminds me of the CHL range test requiring ".32 caliber or larger". That means the very potent 7.62x25, or .30 Mauser, or the legislation-inspiring 5.7x28 (Five-seveN), are all "too small" for use on the CHL proficiency test. Not to mention the various AR "pistol" variations in 5.56mm, or revolvers in .30 Carbine!

This is the kind of silliness the results when legislators put terms into law without defining them. Anyone remember price controls during the Nixon administration? When the government dictated that you could only charge a certain amount per pound on certain cuts of meat, we saw all kinds of new cuts of meat in the market. Funny, they looked just like cuts we were more familiar with, but they cost more than was allowed.

If you carried in there you broke the law.

My husband drives in Oklahoma Every week and delivers to many different place for two to three days week. You can also only carry one gun on you.

This is one of those check the laws of the state you are going into to. Oklahoma does not have to put up 30.06 signs you have to comply with their laws.

You also cannot carry nothing over .45 cal

That sign was a legal sign. Good thing you did not get caught.

My husbands carrys a three ring binder from every state he travels into with emails from each state about him being able to carry or not.

Yeah I did broke the law. Live and learned and will not do again. I wasn't near a computer to look up into Oklahoma concealed carry handgun law.

We look up every state before we go anywhere,

But they also need to define it a little better.

I sent an email to them for clarification.

Is http://www.packing.org current? A few years ago they stopped updating the site and I have not been back. NRA-ILA has a site with state laws also. http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws/

No that is not current at all with the laws. They still do not have Kansas on there.

And you need to check with each state.

"Well, I checked on packing.org", is not a defense.

Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

I email each state to verify all the laws.

Packing.org has failed to update many states and should no longer be considered reliable.

I still use it for its links to the various state agencies.

Many times, the state has a booklet similar to Texas' CHL booklet that is available for download or printing.
