The issue, as I understand it, gets considerably worse in cartridges starting with .4 and ending with 0, although 9mm and .45 Glocks have kaboomed as well. The polygonal rifling can lead up in a way that narrows the bore, spiking pressures. When combined with Glocks' partially-supported chamber... bad things can happen.

I'd suspect the folks who get away with shooting lead are using a different alloy, either softer or harder, than is "normal," but as I don't have spare Glocks handy, I won't test or guess which direction the alloy runs.
