Congratulations, Beiruty and MrsBeiruty!

For any one of us who become jaded about our country, you only have to watch the faces of folks who are standing in front of that federal judge, or magistrate, raising their right hands and being administered the Oath of Citizenship to recognize what a privilege we have, whether natural-born or naturalized, to call ourselves citizens of the United States of America!

Congratulations! One of my relatives was going to do a July 4th swearing in ceremony but decided to schedule for a less busy day. Personally I can't think of a better time to become a US Citizen. I'm sure Independence Day will always have extra special meaning for your family now.

Beiruty, care to share how long it took? Might open some eyes. I have a good friend who is from Trinidad. It took her 8 years to become a citizen. The hoops you have to go through are ridiculous, especially considering you can simply cross the border illegally and be accepted with open arms by idiots.

Congratulations as well. It is a real effort and a matter of great pride to become a United States citizen. Anyone can by the luck of nature be born in the USA. Most youngsters that I know have no pride in their country, have never served in defense of their country and don't even vote. We all saw the Jay Leno interviews and the similar "Water's World" interviews. You and the wife are probably more patriotic and knowledgeable about our history and country than most. I am proud of you. I am first generation born here (shows what it means to be pure luck) but my family did what you have done. Great and congrats again!

Congratulations.

And thanks for sharing what is a simple but heart warming post. I have spent the better part of this lazy (so far, for our family) day posting on an NPR discussion in opposition to several America-haters about why they don't celebrate the 4th.

Between this and your Easter news, it's truly a blessed year for you and your family. :thumbs2: :patriot:
