A Christian would say try to help.

A realist would say mind your own business.

In all likelihood CPS will make their lives much worse and not in any way better. I'd call the police if there was physical abuse that required immediate intervention, but I wouldn't call the horror that is CPS down on anyone.

What would you do if it were just a loud stereo? If the noise is bothering you ask her to quiet down. If that doesn't work complain to the landlord. If that doesn't work one of you will need to move. This is the problem with duplex living. Some people curse a lot and doesn't per-se mean that a call to cps is the answer. Of course we would all prefer hugging and kisses but it's not in the nature of some people. And you won't change it.

The lines between what my older generation would consider cursing and generations before would, and the younger generations are very blurry. There were a couple of words I used as a kid, that were common among my peers, that scandalized my grandmother, born in 1879, and the language I hear from "youngsters" these days, with certain words just tossed off, certainly surprises me.

So I paid very little attention to this thread until this past weekend when I heard a young mother (20s? They all look so young to me these days.) berating her child for having an "accident" in terms that I would not have used in the Navy. Due to the circumstance I was in I didn't say or do anything, but a couple of other people did.
