Don't feel bad. My employer blocks this forum.

It's handy to know where there's a proxy that doesn't advertise itself.

age_ranger wrote:Mind if I ask what the cost was? After looking at a few 1911's, I've narrowed it down to a 5" barrel Taurus, S&W, Springfield, STI, Kimber, Colt or Les Baer. I know I forgot one, but I'm on 1911 overload right now.

Looking forward to a range report. What caliber did you get? I'm looking at a 9mm but am undecided since I can reload .45 or .40 once I get a set of dies.

ahhhhhhh, just checked the site.....comes in .45 only.
I ordered it from Dawson Precision $594.00 plus tax and shipping to my FFL. I had them put a green fiber optic front sight on it because I do not like red. That was another $39.00 grand total - - - $725.69 and my FFL charged me 20 bucks to transfer it.

Thanks, Mojo.......that's a great price for a custom 1911. Goig to have to look at it seriously now. I'd much rather have a STI than a Taurus, but the proof is in the shooting.

There is alot to be said for STI in both workmanship and customer service. I have the 5" Trojan and could not be happier with it. I bought it used and when I first got it it would only feed ball ammo. I reload 200gr LSWC and it would not shoot them or hollow points AT ALL. Called STI, they asked me to send in the pistol and some bullets so I did. The gun came back about a week later and has not had even a hiccup since with anything I have fed it. It was my primary IPSC gun before I moved from Lubbock, so it has seen a fair share of range time. Mighty accurate too, and everybody that has shot has really enjoyed it.

To sum it all up, I would vote for anything with the STI name, Spartan or otherwise.
