) and when I handed him my driver license, CHL and insurance, he handed the CHL back to me and just like your stop didn't ask about it and handed the CHL back to me. Unfortunately he took my DL and insurance and brought me back a ticket to sign.
Can't says I didn't deserve it though, so did my defensive driving and paid the fine.
Happened to me twice. Last time was in Diboll where I teach & knew the officer. Gave him DL, Ins, CHL & before I could say anything he handed it back to me & said "I dont need that." Shortly thereafter I signed the ticket.

Whats he supposed to do? He's supposed to give you a warning and thank you for being "one of the good guys" haha.

My situation- Got pulled over, showed the Leo both my id's, and not a single word was said from his mouth. He just told me to sign on the ticket and left on his way. He started writing my ticket before he even approached me and finished it when he came to my side of the car.
Is there a certain protocol that they have to follow, by the way this was in El Paso county.

I use one of two statements if I'm stopped:
1) I need you to know, I have a CHL and I am armed, my handgun is on my right hip
1) I need you to know, I have a CHL but I am not currently armed.
I've used both responses, and each time the cop has thanked me for letting him know.
Worth mentioning, I also keep my hands on the wheel (after rolling down the window) or handlebars if I'm on the bike (no need to roll down the window).
Yeah, I paid attention in my class.

All you need to do is hand them both of your ID's, but it would be in your favor to have your hands on the wheel, and notify them verbally like "SCOOTERSISSY" said above. I also do the extra by turning off my truck, but I have a loud diesel, so it's mostly out of courtesy. I always do this at checkpoints, as I haven't been pulled over seriously except in I think in 2009,every other time has been by my coworkers and buddies, mostly to jack with me it seems.
