Ah; thanks, Keith. Based on the way it was presented, I was looking for something in the Penal Code that would have some effective impact on PC §30.06. My opinion--and it isn't a professional one--is that the change in the Occupations Code has no bearing whatsoever, from a CHL standpoint, on a facility that properly posts §30.06.
And I agree with TacShot: it's moot whether a handgun is coming into the facility via on-body versus off-body carry. If properly posted, it's illegal to remain on the property with a concealed handgun no matter how the gun got there. So even if you wanted to get tricky and leave the gun locked in luggage and have the concierge send a bellman to unload your car and take the bags to your room--so that technically you never entered the property with a concealed handgun--once you get to your room you are in violation because you have resumed possession of your handgun.
I've run into this situation a few times before when resort/hotel rooms were organizationally booked for specific events. No practical choice of where to stay; there was no nearby option to move to. I absolutely hate leaving my firearm in the lockbox in the center console, but that's what I had to do. I did go to the SUV to check on it daily, though, to make sure it was still secure.

thanks for all the replies and especially to Keith for posting the applicable section... fortunately most of the time during our stay I could park in the handicap area which was directly in front.... so keeping the weapons in the vehicle was reassuring... just a couple of times had to park in general parking...
as noted it is a requirement that resorts must post on their websites their weapon policies.... as with Great Wolf unless you dig into their site you will never find it by general browsing.... would be nice if it were posted in the FAQ area

as a off the topic question.... has anyone visited the USS Lexington here in Corpus Christi and is it very ADA accessible.. I will be here in CC until Thursday and was thinking of touring it

We were there this spring. They were just finishing an elevator to go from the hanger deck to the flight deck.

The stairs to lower levels are still the originals in most places, so depending on your mobility it may be a challenge at best. However, there is quite a bit to see on the hanger deck and flight deck, including the movie theater.

Now I'm confused about something. If a hotel/resort has the 30.06 notification on their reservation page I am not allowed to carry to my room or even have my handgun in my room? I thought a person could not be prohibited from having a handgun in their room because it is considered a temporary residence.

I was thinking the same thing. Remember great wolf lodge is both a hotel and a water park. Not everyone enjoying the water park is a guest. I would think the 30.06 sign would apply to those individuals who weren't hotel guests. I too thought that hotel rooms became temporary residences under the law but as in many other cases I could be wrong.

I don't think you can get a "waterpark" pass there - I believe you have to have a hotel reservation.

I may have it confused with Schlitterbahn in South Padre. We stayed there last summer.

Going to Great Wolf Lodge this summer. I guess I'll take my case and locks for sure. I'll try to remember to report back here later for signs/etc, but with 3 kids to chase around and waterslides to enjoy, I might forget :D
