I haven't seen any comments so far about this, but did no one else notice that this crew was targeting a specific ethnic group...Indian? Most likely because they had learned that those raised in a traditional Indian culture keep a portion of their assets in gold...most commonly in the form of high carat gold jewelry such as bracelets and necklaces. All five of the homes belonged to people of Indian ethnicity and had jewelry taken.

We had some similar break-ins in our neighborhood a few years ago. Similar in they were targeting Indian and Pakistani families because of the jewelry. The local police detectives know I have security cameras that cover the alley and street and had me pull video for the time-frames of the break-in's. luckily these thieves were waiting until the homeowners left and then would force entry through the back doors.

I heard on the radio that they are thinking this is a multi-state ring of thieves. There have been similar cases in other states.

And maybe I'm wrong, but I suspect they're also less likely to own a gun and be prepared to use it during a home invasion.

India has the second largest number, after the U.S., of privately owned guns in the world, approximately 40 million. The women may be culturally directed towards non-violence, but not the men. Plenty of CCTV stuff of Indian and Pakistani store owners and clerks dueling with bad guys available. And Sikhs don't just carry kirpans.

The ring leader is an illegal alien from Colombia, an immigration detention hold was on his record. Thank you Mr. President for failing to deport dangerous illegal aliens.

This may be associated with the same crime ring that was breaking into Indian homes in our neighborhood a couple of years ago. They caught some of them and said they were part of a Colombian crime ring out of Houston.

40 million? In a country with a population of over 1.2 billion, almost 4 times our population? We've got four times as many guns with one quarter the population. But aside from that fact, legal gun ownership in India is difficult, and the selection is quite poor:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics#India
The Arms Act of 1959 and the Arms Rules 1962 of India prohibits the sale, manufacture, possession, acquisition, import, export and transport of firearms and ammunition unless under a license and is a stringent process. Indian Government has monopoly over production and sale of firearms, however, Breech Loading Smooth Bore shotguns are exception to this rule, some manufacturers have been allowed to produce certain number of these.[77] The Arms Act classifies firearms into two categories: Prohibited Bore (PB) and Non-Prohibited Bore (NPB), where all semi-automatic and fully automatic firearms fall under the Prohibited Bore category. Any firearm which can chamber and fire ammunition of the caliber .303; 7.62mm; .410; .380; .455; .45 rimless; 9mm is specified as Prohibited Bore under The Arms Act of 1962. Smooth bore guns having barrel of less than 29" in length are also specified as Prohibited Bore guns.[78]
Before 1987, licenses for acquisition and possession of both PB and NPB firearms could be given by the state government or district magistrate but later, the issue of licenses for PB firearms became the responsibility of the central government. The license is valid of 3 years and needs to be renewed and this rule covers sale of firearms, both parties involved need to possess the permit.[79]
The criteria which are considered during the issue of NPB firearm permits are whether the person faces threat to life. These firearm licenses are strictly regulated; PB firearms criteria is even more stringent, applicable for a person, especially having a government position who faces immediate danger or threats, family members of such people and a person whose occupation by nature involves open threats and danger. Acquiring a PB license has become next to impossible as of 2014 because these are highly regulated.
Now with Pakistan you may have something:
Pakistan has relatively liberal firearm laws compared to the rest of South Asia. In a comparison of the number of privately owned guns in 178 countries, Pakistan ranks in 6th place. Laws regulate the carrying of weapons in public in most urban areas. Private guns are prohibited in educational institutions, hostels or boarding and lodging houses, fairs, gatherings or processions of a political, religious, ceremonial or sectarian character, and on the premises of Courts of law or public offices.[104] Gun culture is strong among Pakistanis and traditionally important part of rural and urban life.

Another house was hit in Allen last night (right across the street from a close friend). Police chopper was overhead for a good chunk of the evening, but they found them. Haven't seen it in the news though.

Will be interesting to see if this was a copycat or maybe they were associated with a bigger ring of thugs.

Another 2-Burglars are caught at the crime scene:
Home burglary.. 1000 block of Blanco Dr. Suspects in custody!
On 12/10/2014, at approximately 2008 hours, a concerned citizen called the Allen Police Department to report a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of Everglades Dr. The caller gave a description of a red Mazda passenger car that was last seen turning south onto Bray Central Dr. While officers were enroute to the suspicious vehicle call, an alarm call was received in the 1000 block of Blanco Dr.
When the first officer arrived at the home of the alarm call, he observed a red Mazda passenger car matching the description given by the previous caller. The car was occupied by two males wearing all black. The two suspects ran south, between houses, when they saw the officer approaching.
Forced entry was found at the home where the alarm was going off. Officers cleared the residence and found no suspects inside. The homeowners were not at home at the time of the incident.
At the same time, a perimeter was being set up and while officers searched the area for the suspects that fled. During the search one suspect was found in the 1000 block of Palmetto Dr. Shortly after, a K-9 officer and his service K-9 were able to track and locate the second suspect near Marble Falls Dr. and Cibolo Dr. Both suspects were arrested without incident.
Stolen property from the home was found inside the suspect vehicle.
The arrested suspects and associated charges are as follows:
Eulises A. Hercules-Aguilar B/M 10/31/1985
Burglary of Habitation
Criminal Trespass Habitation
Washington Asprilla Riascos H/M 02/23/1984

Burglary of Habitation
Evading Arrest/Detention
Fail to Identify Giving False/Fictitious Information
Thanks to this alert citizen who provided good information that led to the arrest of these suspects!

Was this latest intrusion the residence of an Indian or Pakistani family? If so, it seems to heighten the possibility these BGs are part of the same ring and are working from a list.

Seems to me if their mother's had given these boys a nice, American name - Bob, David, Jerry - they might have turned out different. Lord knows, if my momma had named me Octavius, I'd sure 'nuff grow up with some kinda attitude!
