I'd be ok with that, but I'd still wipe down the muzzle end to keep the lead contamination down.

That, or whenever it looks like the lube has dried up (press check, look at the rails), or whenever it's been so long that I refuse to believe that the lube is still good even though it looks fine (which is what's been happening to me lately).
I use grease on the rails. Dry out isn't a problem.
Even if I used oil, I go to the range enough that I wouldn't worry about that either.
