As a major Contrarian/Curmudgeon, I'm beginning to see why Scientologists hate psychiatrists.

I always thought Scientologists were coo-coo, but now I'm beginning to see why they have so much disdain for psychiatry...

I share the same position on psychiatry and SSRI medication as Scientology, but you'll never see me paying $100,000 for "auditing" or with a copy of Dianetics. You see, Scientology's opposition to the field is because psychiatry cuts in on their action.

I've a friend who's a type of doctor (I'll avoid specifics) and he's a Scientologist. Unbelievable to me that he and a whole passel of other docs are also
Scientologists. It's not just actors who are Scientologists.

He has contributed more than a $100,000 and as S missionary tried to recruit me into the club. Fat chance...

How anyone can quite literally buy into science fiction baffles me.

After listening to his recruiting plea, I responded that now matter how much I may enjoy science fiction, (though not L. Ron Hubbards') I wouldn't pay to join the fan club...

IN THEIR DAY, they were the liberal thinkers. Even the idea of a government of the people, by the people, and for the people was unheard of.

Today's standards have nothing to do with it.

Not true. Research the origins of democracy & republics. You will find a long history my friend - and you will have to do a whole lot more to convince a knowledgeable person that a lib today is the same as an 18th century liberal.

It's not worth my time to continue this debate. Have a good one.

Very much like the way things worked in the old Soviet Union. If you disagreed with "State Think" you were obviously in need of mental help and were remanded to the State run Mental Health Care System for "treatment".

Interesting how things turn about.
