Much better than the bit on open carry on KXAN (Austin) last night that showed the Black Panthers brandishing rifles.
I hate it when media deliberately muddies the water with such tactics.

"Something that Sgt. Rob Flores says Beaumont Police will be ready to enforce once the law is passed.
Enforce? Huh?
"Once this law does pass then obviously we're gonna get the law, we're gonna study the law. We're gonna train our officers to know the law so we can enforce it and make sure that people are in compliance with it," says Flores."
What does that mean exactly?
Beaumont LEO's are going to enforce how...?

I know Rob and believe he was making a general statement, the same as he would have made with any other law revision.
Let's not imagine a problem before it exists.
Thanks

I didn't take issue with his statement.

Nice job. I especially liked the segments where you explained the firearm's safety features and spoke about learning the laws. I appreciated the young lady mentioning the number of licensees. It might open eyes that there are multitudes of honest citizens lawfully carrying concealed every day in Texas.

Great to see the facts and common sense discussion on open carry. Especially on the usually anti-gun media networks. Loved the Mall Ninja comment.

I find it interesting that the smaller the town, the more likely the media will accurately report on an issue, especially guns. I guess there's something about big cites that tends to block facts and promote rhetoric. Oh yeah, it's call media bias.

Thanks
Several of the reporters from local media, most with no previous firearm exposure, have gone through my basic safety class.
All of them have really enjoyed handgun shooting once they became safe, familiar, and gained some confidence.
Local coverage has definitely improved, too.
Now she wants to start training for silhouette matches.

"We're gonna train our officers to know the law so we can enforce it and make sure that people are in compliance with it," says Flores."
I'm not seeing a problem where none exists.
I simply would like to know what constitutes enforcement and compliance.
Pretty simple question...

I get where you're going with this Abraham and it could be taken as though he is implying that his dept may be stopping people to check for licenses. This could just simply be a PR statement for the media or it may turn out to be something more serious. I would say let's give everyone a chance to see what actually happens when open carry is lawful. With the attention it has gotten I think it will be very easy to document any mishaps with law enforcement and build a case for legislative action next session.

Or he simply wants to assure the public that the people they see armed are nothing to worry about because law enforcement is on the job keeping things in line. I am with the members who feel most officers will not want to spend their time on open carry unless they see someone who otherwise looks a bit suspect. For instance, some of the pictures I have seen of OCT would have me wanting to ask for ID if I was a LEO

This is the exact kind of positive exposure that we need to make the OC law a non-issue. I wish everybody would handle themselves with the professionalism that Doc has.

Let's put it this way. If I were LEO and I saw CJ Grisham OCing, given that he has made public statements that would indicate that he is not eligible for a CHL in Texas, I would stop and ask for his ID.
When he refused to produce, I would use his public statements as articulatable reasonable suspicion and demand the ID.
Same logic would apply to individuals who are known to LE as gang members or felons.
