Let history be your guide, when freedom of speech is suppressed and guns confiscated, its all over.
Most recent history I can think of is modern day Venezuela. From Democracy (believe it or not they used to be a Constitutional Republic much like we used to be) to Dictatorship.

That is one. I imagine the intent is to make the rule as broad as possible so they can target whoever they want. Which is the intent of most of the numerous regulations in place.
