guess the driver would have to inform every passenger verbally that guns are not allowed..... wonder how its going to work when a bg is pointing gun at the driver.... I am composing a letter to them to ask exactly that question. The Annoyed Man wrote:Will the cars be posted with a compliant 30.06 sign?

yeah, that was my other thought....or a written notice when you accept the terms at time of ordering a ride?RetNavy wrote:guess the driver would have to inform every passenger verbally that guns are not allowed..... wonder how its going to work when a bg is pointing gun at the driver.... I would not recommend that. They are probably clueless about 30.06, but a letter may prompt them to research it and then implement it.jimlongley wrote:I am composing a letter to them to ask exactly that question. The Annoyed Man wrote:Will the cars be posted with a compliant 30.06 sign?

Actually it was my intent to obfuscate a little, such as asking if they are going to require every Uber driver in the nation to post the necessary and compliant signage, stating that different states and localities have different requirements for posting, and how are they going to force the drivers to post on their own private property.Jumping Frog wrote:I would not recommend that. Isn't a notice in their user agreement sufficient?

IMO, I think this is just a stupid legal manuever to try to duck liability if something bad happens. They have no way of enforcing it with drivers or passengers without really stepping in it. I really don't think they care if drivers or passengers have guns, they just don't want to lose a lawsuit over it.
Re: Uber bans firearms of all types
I have two friends that do Uber gigs AND carry. Both don't give a darn about what Uber has stated, but they ARE concerned that Uber may be digging themselves into a hole. By stating that their contractors may or may not do things that they are otherwise entitled to do in their private vehicles, they are effectively creating greater constraints that look more like employment and less like 1099 contracting, which will likely sink Uber in even deeper hot water. Will be interesting to see what the result is, because Uber is basically stating your car is their property for the duration of the contracted ride. Uber can certainly set standards of behavior, but they're going beyond that now and superceding state laws. Bad, bad mojo for Uber.

What is an 'UBER' and do I care?
Re: Uber bans firearms of all types
Two people log onto an app. One has a car the other needs a ride. One pays the other gets paid. A little oversimplified but that's about it.Oldgringo wrote:What is an 'UBER' and do I care?

The Dude,
Thanks for all the information.
Just curious: If you don't have a smart phone, are you in essence, not eligible to get a ride with Uber?
Or, are there other ways to communicate with them?

You need a smart phone with the app with paypal or credit card linked to it.Abraham wrote:The Dude,

I tried it only once. I was at a wedding reception and wanted a ride back to the hotel.
I did something wrong and didn't link my paypal account correctly and they wouldn't process the order.
Instead, I got a ride with a friend. I never tried it after that.
