We had a sheet with city/state/local/wants. A rap could only be ordered by an officer and your right, it was against the rules. I did not even get to see my own.

Also, neither one of have our CHL, I am about to submit my packet.

Yep!

I was delayed last Saturday on the Purchase of a S&W Model 60. No big Deal. It was ready for me thursday, but I didn't pick it up until this past Saturday. the gun show was in town and I wanted to see if I could find a better deal, but didn't.

kwf2006 I would not worry either way. If I had a dime for everyone who ran a Criminal History just because. . . I would be rich. As for as 28/29 most of those are just because also. . . unless it was on traffic. It is just like the free dinners - not everyone is always by the book. My .02

Irving Police Officers routinely run plates (for no violations) as they cruise around the town. They are checking for previous criminal history and if something comes back interesting, they will follow the car until it makes a mistake or otherwise look at it very closely for lights, inspection, etc......anything at all that they can pull the car over for!

Yep it's true. I live in Irving and have gone on ride alongs.

Delays are common. I got them every time before getting a CHL, and I have a very unusual name (although i do have a cousin with the same first and last name in Texas).

Wouln't worry about it, just pick up the gun after the BATF Three days (that's four to six days to you and me).

And you'd think that if they wanted to check me out really thoroughly, they'd pick up the phone and call the INS, they know everything there is to know about me and then some.

For me, getting my legally purchased Glock handed to me at the shop was the final thing that convinced me that I really CAN get a CHL.

Actually, a legally purchased Glock can be had by buying one from an individual with no paperwork exchanged. After I bought my 26 a couple of weeks ago, I was walking around the gun show with it and had people immediately asking how much I wanted for it until I got a bag to hide it in. I also noticed some Spanish only speakers hitting up individuals at the Fort Worth gun show. They didn't seem to even be looking at the dealer booths...

Thats actually irrelevant. i have always been able to legally buy guns and pass a NICS but had to wait 10yrs for DefAdj to pass to get a CHL. I could buy own and carry to range and such but no concealed on person.

At my CHL class at Bass Pro...they made sure we signed everything. In fact, I got hit in the head by the instructor for not signing something. I think he might have been a SGT in the army or something. I felt like a private going through that class anyway. I'd recommend it though for good information and hardcore gun people.

This is an Anonymous User posting inconspicuously under the moniker "Mac Truck"....

Best way to do it without delay if you don't have the CHL is to buy it for yourself, in your name, don't mention a word about it being "gifted", then go to the BATF and get a person-to-person transfer slip regarding firearms, and have the giftee sign off on it. Then YOU send it in, to make sure that it gets sent in.

Of course I would never advocate doing that, nor would this "Mac Truck" person...

Ummm... what? Care to elaborate on this mysterious "transfer slip", and to whom you'd send it?

Firearms Transaction Record, Form 4473. Aquire from the ATF, then return when transaction is complete. What's with the cute little rolling of the eyes? Do you disagree with me?
