When you log in to schedule a class, the default is for "NRA Affiliated" meaning an NRA Class. (See top of the page.) Change that to "Non-NRA."

Charles,

In your opinion, should we schedule all of our LTC (CHL) courses on the NRA site? I had never thought about adding them as they are not NRA classes.

Thanks,

Erick Drake

I'm going to schedule a few, but by no means all of the classes. I'm also scheduling my home-grown classes that make up my Handgun Skills Series of classes.

I agree, this is the third class I've registered this year on the NRA site. No need to put them all on there.

So what about that idea of having to take a new BIT class every two years? Is that really going into effect?

Can you schedule them retroactively? I just taught a couple of LTC Classes and have another scheduled for the 19th.

I think you only have to take the BIT w/i 2 years IFF you are taking another course. For instance, I wanted to take CRSO and was told the I had to have BIT w/i 2 years. :(

As i remember my pistol class instructor said get all the instructor classes in that you want/can within two years so that you don't have to take BIT again. Then as long as you teach a course (he said NRA) every (2?) year your good.

Yes, we are going to have to take BIT every two years when we renew our NRA instructor credentials. It will be updated annually and will no longer be the same course. This is being done to create a continuing education element to our certification that will help a lot if an instructor is sued. This is preferable to having a continuing education course for each shooting discipline for which we are certified.

Last time I renewed, I signed for for 5 years, I think. Are we going to be limited to only renewing for 2 years?

Will NRA send us a reminder that our BIT is expiring or do we just have to keep track of it ourselves?

I emailed NRA yesterday, about this. The reply
It’s not actually BIT, but it’s a refresher course instructors will need to complete when they renew. This is NOT complete at this time, but it is in the future, probably two years or so down the road. That’s why we have been putting this information out.

Keep in mind, this is a refresher which will be completed in an elearning environment. It’s not a course that instructors would need to go find, pay to take, etc.. We also will require some activity from our instructors. They should report at least one course per renewal cycle to show that they are an active instructor.

Well, that's better news than I thought it would be.

https://nrainstructors.org/instructorad ... Login.aspx
And once you sign in click on "Manage Training and Students",
then on the right side click on "Register New Course".
At the top of the Register New Course click the radio button "Non-NRA" and continue.
