No insult intended to the OP or anyone else on this thread but I didn’t bother to wade through all that blather. Pure fantasy. They are screaming the loudest right now because they are starting to realize they are going to end up with the exact opposite of what they set out to accomplish.

I remember when I didn’t even dream there would be a day I could legally carry a gun on me, let alone in a holster on my side for the world to see.

The left started off trying to ban all guns and made a little progress with “assault weapons”. They started pushing harder and the backlash started to build. Now we will have “campus carry” and we have reciprocity in all but a handful of states.

They see the writing on the wall and are suffering some sort of mass breakdown. All they have left is their fantasies and they are withdrawing into that world. They just try to write or say something every now and then to make gun owners angry.

They seem to have "come out of the closet" with their true intentions subsequent to Obama being elected. I used to check out sites like the Daily KOS and HuffPo and started noticing the really promiscuous mask slippage after the second election. I tend to believe that bolstered by their Boy King and his Praetorian media along with their near total cultural dominance they think the brass ring is within their grasp and they've decided to make a grab for it.

I started off becoming concerned, then a bit angry, but before long I was practically laughing out loud.

Not because I don't think there are folks who think this way, but because they think the general populace would tolerate it.

Until/unless the Progressives willingly put their lives in danger to protect others, prove effective in the protection of others, and guarantee the protection of others (against whatever numbers and weapons), the fundamental affirmation of the most basic of human rights -- life -- is the right to protect oneself with tools suited to that purpose. The Second Amendment provides this affirmation for all people in the US, and there are hundreds of millions of firearms in private hands partly because protection of this basic human right is ultimately the individual duty of each person.

I didn't wade through all of it either...I just skimmed over it. I didn't post it because I think it's likely or realistic......I posted it because I think they're signaling and revealing what they'd like to do if they ever get enough power to do it. It seems like with Obama in the White House and their near cultural and media dominance they finally feel comfortable articulating what they truly think. Also, apparently over the weekend some CO ACLU official resigned after a Facebook post saying Trump supporters should be shot. It's funny that these progs call people they disagree with Nazis but they're the ones to actually propose mass murder of the opposition.

The general populace would go along with it. The general populace is too busy keeping their faces planted in their smartphones and eagerly waiting for the next episode of the reality show of their dreams.

Very few actually care about freedom and liberty. The general populace would be content to allow tyranny to take over as long as they keep their status quo.

I think it'd be more like the revolutionary war. It'd be a quarter, half, quarter split where one part is engaged in taking guns, one part sitting on the sidelines, and one part opposing. That doesn't mean a quarter kicking in doors, or the like. People providing succor to more active participants I would count in there. Though I think it was closer to a third, third, third split back then.

I'm with you. I used to get upset that someone could think that way and wanted to crush him with my amazing logic - but now I just figure it's one guy's fantasy wish-list and pretty small potatoes/irrelevant; really, who cares that some lone headcase would love a door-kicking gun-grab?

We can't respond to every single nutcase with a gun-grab fantasy. While I might occasionally respond with 'Bring your friends and bring a lunch' kind of thing, I don't bother getting torqued up about it any more because I reckon we're winning and his fantasy does zero to my life. I'm now saving my energy for the bigger stuff :)

Yep, bigger stuff like steady breathing and trigger control.
