I guess this also puts to bed all those theories about these kind of signs being a wink, wink, nod , nod just to pacify management and insurance companies while allowing LTC folks.

While a non-compliant sign for 30.06 can be ignored (concealed is concealed)
A non-compliant sign for 30.07 is hard to ignore as if the business doesn't want open carry, it's kind of hard for them not to see it
With that, if I see an invalid 30.07, and I want to enter, I will be covering up prior to going in.
Last thing I want is to be told "no guns here" as that would also be notice for concealed carry.

bottom line it was not a legally posted sign unless poster was verbal directed to leave there should have been no problem. The law clearly defines what a legal 30.06/30.07 sign is.

I guess I have mixed feelings about all of this.
It irks me that one half of the parties in the contract (so to speak), the sign posting establishments, do not have to post compliant signs. If someone can call the police on OCers why isn't there a way to do something about their non-compliance?
We are expected to live by the specifics of the law, but they don't have to. And, when it comes down to a contest between the two, the establishment is given the benefit of the doubt the offender, who technically is not offending, is scolded, arrested, or worse as if the burden of fulfilling the contract (the law that specifies requirements to both parties) rest solely on the OCer.
That's a sad system.
How many of us are afraid to risk the ride rather than to insist that establishments are just as responsible to follow the compliance law as we are to follow compliant notices? Do we fear they, whoever they are, may take our freedom away from us if we protest too much?
Why should a LEO have anything to say at all to a OCer when he is being completely lawful. IN FACT, IT IS THE ESTABLISHMENT THAT IS FAILING TO ABIDE BY THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE LAW!!! Of all people the LEO should know that the OCer has done nothing wrong and rather than making him to feel like a criminal why not advise the establishment to get ITS act together?
The LEO should, if asked by the establishment, give his verbal 30.06 or 30.07 notice and be on his way. I almost want to say how dare they presume to admonish the OCer for doing nothing but following the law as written. That requires the LEO to be solidly clear on the law which most are. Fairness in the application of a law written to and for both parties is not too much to ask.
So I am torn about how to feel about this kind of situation.
To quote Hamlet...."...Thus, conscience, does make cowards of us all. And thus the native hue of resolution, is sullied ore' the pale cast of thought."
And let me add, I am one of those who would rather retreat and fight on another battlefield of legislation than try to make a point in front of a family eating their dinner at a restaurant and make life more difficult for the rest of OCers.
BUT IT TICKS ME OFF THAT IS SHOULD BE THIS WAY!!!

I have an online blog, and may want to expand my current topic base, and would love to do a post on this.
Can u share the city/name of the restaurant/more incident info so I can dig in a bit, and perhaps even interview you and the manager?
I support our 2A activities, and this might be a solid story.
Please PM me so we can talk further!

OMG, you are, like, tooootally giving the ressst of usss a bad name....... ssstop it.
If we have to follow the laws, so do they. The sign was not properly posted and so he carried past it. Now he knows to conceal next time. No big deal, everyone calm down.

Yep, I am with Keith on this one. If you go looking for trouble (or ATTENTION), you CAN find it. Such behavior is NOT representative of the holders I know - or want to be affiliated with.

PSTL*PAKR wrote:First day of Open carry, so decided to stop at Lubbys. Seen an improper sign at door, so I ignored it. A few people stared, but nobody said anything to me. 20 munutes later, boys in blue pull up. They walked over to me and asked me why I ignored the sign. Handed them both licenses, they unarmed me and escorted me outside. They chewed me out, but one agreed that sign was not legal. Let me go with a STERN warning.

If sign is still up in a few days, I will do it again.
Well, I'll be interested in hearing about your court/jail experience.

It's the part where he said he was going back to do it again if they don't put up the correct sign that has most of us thinking negative thoughts.
If he goes back after receiving effective notice, he will be breaking the law and promoting a negative image of us all.

Not only this Greybeard, but if folks would read their own post they sound like teenagers. "I went out today and no one notice so tomorrow I am wearing a 'WHATEVER' and see if they notice then." It sounds like instead of all for 2A folks are out to be noticed. Like a bunch of teenage girls...
