I talked to a Surefire dealer at a gun show not long ago that said they were selling the flashlights way under what they were supposed to be selling them for. A few other dealers turned them in and Surefire went out there and made them stop. Most manufacturers have a lowest price that you can sell something for. I'm assuming they were doing that with other stuff and maybe now that's why they had to go up on their prices.

If they want to impress me, they can at least match Walmarts prices on WWB.........

Thats just not right, unAmerican pricefixing, anti competion, cartels.
Who does Surefire think they are? Exxon? OPEC?

Lots of companies do that. They do it so the "little guys" can compete. With guns I've noticed that the markup is so small anyway, I don't know how gun dealers make a living...

age_ranger wrote:Just thumbed through the latest flier from CheaperThanDirt. Cheaper Than What? Hello.............!!! 9mm WWB is going for $13.35/50 rounds!! That must be some expensive dirt they're shoveling!! I kheard prices on the Winchester and Federal stuff is going up again. I'm hoping this ad reflects that raise in price. Funny, I used to go there and think I was really getting a bargain. The only thing I go in for now is to cruise the consignment case and look at new models so I can go buy elsewhere.
CheaperThanSome might be a better name................
CheaperThanNONE would be better!

It's more in Dallas. I recently sold a 1200 square foot 2 bed 1 bath built in 1926 for nearly $160k. That was cheap, too.

Different but related. You may have seen the new CTD "Guns" link on their Website recently. Here's what the Website says:
CTD Does Not Sell Firearms -- We do one better, by putting you in direct contact with our national network of dealers for a great personal experience and an amazing Cheaper Than Dirt deal!
I have an item on my wishlist (prolly an August purchase), so I decided to experiment. Almost three weeks ago I selected the wishlist firearm and filled out the info on the Website. Didn't hear anything, and frankly forgot about it.
Today, I received an email from them:
Here is the gun sales info you recently requested on the (gun on wishlist).
It is impossible for us to know the exact inventory of the shops below, but they will usually either have the firearm of your choice, or will be able to quickly order it for you.
Then the email proceeded to list 29 retailers in greater Houston...including the local one I usually frequent who does not stock the item. For grins, I called him to see if CTD had been in contact with him about being part of their "national network of dealers" or establishing a discount for CTD referrals. Nada. He never heard of it...and logically noted that there wasn't enough margin to make any sort of arrangement like that worthwhile to him.
This incredibly valuable new feature on their Website that collects your email address and other personal information ('course, they already had mine from previous orders) might already be in your home...and it's called
THE YELLOW PAGES. Duh!
I'm being grumpy about this, but it smacks of simple misrepresentation.

I was rather impressed with CheaperThanDirt when i placed my order back in April. Forget the fact that I have to pay sales tax because they exist in Texas.. even considering that, I got my order the next day, everything there.
The biometric gun safe I bought there in April was about $225. Now, it is selling on the same site for $310. I don't understand the reason for the sharp increase. I just have to say that I'm glad I bought when I did! Great service though.. however, I have never been impressed with the ammo prices.. ever.
