Blue skies, fluffy clouds, rainbows and unicorns (and air lots of air). If you can handle that....you won't need any therapy. ;-)

I'd venture that they just might believe Hollywood when they show a suppressed gun making the barely audible "pewff" sound.

That's exactly what they think, why do you think they always refer to them as "Silencers" ? I still haven't understood how they can make the leap that a suppressed gun will somehow kill someone more than an un-suppressed one will. But then I don't live in the rainbow and unicorn world.

Suppresses are more deadly on assault rifles.

The problem is most people think all suppressors are hollywood quiet. Even most gun owners haven't used or heard one in person. I have 3 from 22lr up to 30 cal. I can assure you other then maybe the 22lr with subsonic ammo they are not "silent". When i shoot my 308 or 223 I can assure you its not going to go unnoticed. I have even had a few people thank me for using it with my 308 rifle. "Thanks for saving my ears man!"

Let me tell you though. Those unmounted suppressors are very dangerous. Turns into a very expensive paper weight.

Ofcourse these people actually going out and researching things before they run their mouth would be to much work.

True. Probably 99% of the public out there, including hunters and shooters, believe "silencers" just make a little "poof, poof" when you shoot.

We've often talked about how public ignorance is a major opposing factor in getting legislation passed. We would have the same problem with any proposed legislation that would remove restrictions on suppressors.

That in red is exactly the mindset I had before joining this forum and actually watching a video of a suppressor in action.

Public education is key.
