The violence attending the 1968 Democrat Convention was part of the shanghai'ing of the Democrat Party by the doper dirtball hippies, the Kerry-Fonda-Clinton Alinskiites et al crowd in league with the communist party. It's been all downhill ever since.
The protester in 1968 that Richard Daly and the Democrat machine were oppressing and beating are the very factions/organizations that today are embraced by the Democrats. SDS, Youth International Party (yippies), and Vietnam war protest groups among others.
Yes. Payback is a gripe.

If indeed the agitation was caused by "MoveOn" and Mr. Soros, wouldn't the FBI (guessing here) need to begin an investigation into foreign agents interfering with our electoral process?
Not that I doubt that this could very much be true!
The difference in the behavior of "The Left" and "The Right" is as always night and day. We look to the rules and they mock the rules and those who follow them. They make a mockery of the First Amendment and deep in the heart of Texas, the current President conducts fundraising and political bashing without so much as a hint of protest or hostility.
Like several others have either stated or alluded, I think that many on the Left are significantly underestimating the capacity for resistance and yes, violence from the folks who Nixon called the "silent majority". Unfortunately, I think we're marching closer and closer to some sort of powder keg event that could set this nation ablaze in the blink of an eye.
That'll do it for now.

The FBI isn't about investigating the left anymore. They are all about investigating the right. The FBI is led by the left. Why would they investigate their own?

The SDS, YIP and VN protesters took over the Democrat Party. They teamed up with the communists who, after all had "high negatives" and were riddled with undercover FBI agents.
After Humphrey in 1968, the last of the old Democrats that Truman and Kennedy would have recognised, McGovern and McCarthy led them downhill all the way. Those old style Democrats found a home with Republicans, and now look what a mess that has become!

Convicted Felon George Soros has pledged $13 Million to Hillary Clinton's election effort. That is probably a paltry sum compared to organizations like Moveon that he funds.

Anyone taken a look at our current political climate and some of the different political violence, etc that seems to be coming out of this election and think it looks eerily similar to Germany circa 1929. Trump reminds me of early Hitler. Everyone seems to dismiss it outright because they think of Hitler later in his career, but early on he was an outspoken and refreshing outsider who 'wanted to make Germany great again'.

Pariah3j,
Excellent point!
Perhaps, we'll soon have a personalized salute too.

You guys can blame Move-on, Democrats, Socialists, Progressives, whatever.. Surely these are the only misbehaving actors out there.
Tread carefully: Trump isn't that far from being the "chosen one" by the party of the conservative right. I hardly think that behaving badly is the fault of the other political side... Trump encourages the drama because he knows it gets coverage and gets ratings. He's not going to disavow the KKK, but he's not going to confirm them either - just to stir the pot, bring up the passions, and get himself more free media.
The dwindling pool of candidates, regardless of your political affiliation, certainly looks really bad to me... We've got:
1) A self-appointed Socialist.
2) A Washington elite who has either openly lied to the American people or is completely incompetent, take your pick, maybe both.
3) We've got a conservative Christian who has historically donated .86% of his income to charity and a member of the political elite.
4) And we've a billionaire who has driven his own companies to bankruptcy more times that you and I would in 5 lifetimes who has almost zero real plans to accomplish the things that he's promising.
I don't ever remember such a bad set of choices.

More to come.
"The operation, calling itself Democracy Spring, is threatening “drama in Washington” with the “largest civil disobedience action of the century.” The radicals believe this will result in the arrest of thousands of their own activists."

I thought I was the only one to see this. I have studied the war for many years and if a person is honest with themselves, there are more semblances than that to pre-Hitler Germany.
Please honor us with your opinion oh great white bearded one (TAM).

I don't really think we'll go down the path of 1930's Germany, but I do agree that there are some unsettling similarities.

This sums up the current situation pretty well . . .
I know Trump consistently slams McCain and Romney, but personally I believe we'd have been better off with them than Obama or any of the current choices.

I have to disagree, I think Cruz is a pretty decent choice. He kept his promise to Texas, has defended the constitution and is far from political elite - I think he understands politics and knows how to play the game, doesn't make him part of the establishment. Just MHO(my humble opinion) so chase it with a little salt if you must.

I had no intention of even insinuating we would take the path Germany did. I wanted to point out however that people are fed up with the government and angry at the way the country is headed.
I want people to understand that we are in a critical time so we can’t let our anger override our ability to think rationally. If we do we may end up in a worse situation than we are now.
Some people
think they
want a revolution. That is a dangerous proposition. The revolution that created this country had the best possible result. Another one could just as easily leave us much worse off than we are now and/or even break up the country.
As a great philosopher once said “You never know what you’re gonna get.”
