I average once a week and 100 rounds of live fire. I try to dry fire every day for 10-15 minutes but realistically actually do it 4-5 days a week.

I used to go plinking at the range once a week until I joined IDPA. Now I shoot IDPA weekly and get a lot more enjoyment for a lot less ammo.

PS. IDPA really stands for I Don't Practice Anymore.

I'm fortunate that I can shoot in my backyard so in the course of a week, 300 - 500 rounds through different guns.

This is going to sound real stupid, but I want to know, so here goes...

What do you guys mean by dry firing practice? I know what dry firing is and I even have some snap caps for practice while drawing the gun locked and loaded. Is that what you're talking about? Or is there something else I should be practicing?

You got it. Folks will work on everything from grip and trigger squeeze, to running through full tilt competition scenarios in the yard and never fire a shot.

I have given folks the course of fire for the qualifier, and suggest they dry fire practice it aimed at a clock with a sweep second hand.

Dry fire is also valuable for practicing drawing from a holster and re-holstering.

It's better to find out you screwed up with a click than a BANG.

Well, I go to the range about once every week or two. If there were an outdoor range closer to town, I'd definitely be going a lot more. The past 4 trips have been with new shooters, so I haven't been able to actually practice in about a month and a half. I'm about to send in my app for the Austin Rifle Club, though - so hopefully range trips will become a little more frequent.

I belong to two Shooting Clubs. One is an Indoor Range and the other is an Outdoor Range.

Neither Rain or Snow nor Dark of Night.............

I try to shoot at least once or twice a week and run the different drills.

Once or twice a month, I wish I could go more often but my kids aren't old enough to go with me..... in a few years I'll have to get a reloader just for the kids. My son is 6 1/2 and he is asking for a paintball gun

I shoot 2x a week ... about 100 rounds a session. Gotta give the 'ol Dillon credit; it's been keeping up with that schedule for more than 12 years. Before that, my ammo came from another source.
