Firearms are a bit louder than paintball guns, especially in a residential neighborhood.

Personally, if someone broke one of my windows, my first reaction would not be to run out the door and expose myself to whatever was there.

My parents house was shot at back when I was younger. You did not hear a thing but the sound of sheetrock cracking inside the house. It sounded odd. The gunshots didn't wake me up. Heck I didnt hear them. What I did hear was glass breaking. THAT woke me up. Of course they only used a .22LR but the bullets were strong enough to go through ONE wall and make a dent in the next rooms wall.
