The smell of Diesel fumes always reminds me of being at my Grandfathers farm, the smell of creosote always reminds me of fishing off piers in Mobile bay in my youth. Funny how smells cement themselves with memories in your mind.

Summer time fragrances - honeysuckle and vaporized kerosene from the mosquito foggers. Tastes were all the different fruit we stole from the neighborhood fruit trees and dewberries picked in the fields.

Salt air off the Atlantic Ocean. Fresh cut grass, cut by me.
Watermelon. A nice cool tomato and cucumber sandwich with mayonaise.
Fresh made bread - I used to live near a large bread factory.
Wet drywall cement ("mud") as I drywalled new homes.

The smell of alkali on the breeze off of a dry lake bed.
The aromatic bouquet of sage, the leaves crushed as you pushed your horse through the brush and scrub.
Cow grilling on a mesquite fire.
Unfortunately that original Joy formulation is no longer available to due the unavailability of some of the materials.
Yeah, the whole EU hyper-nanny state allergens brouhaha is pathetic. Jean Patou, post Proctor & Gamble, has made great strides in reviving "Joy".
IFRA and EU regulations forcing the reformulation of Patou, Chanel, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent classic scents will create more problems for Brussels than they know!

There's a brand of pipe tobacco that my dingleberry uncle used and every few years I come across that odor. Hate that odor!

My Grandpa smoked cigars. I have no idea which brand, but I also come across that odor every now and then. I don't like the odor, but I loved my Grandpa and it reminds me of him.

My youngest and his wife visited today. They commented that my house smells like Grandpa's house. Not sure what is creating the smell but we came to the conclusion it is "old people". BTW - it is NOT a nursing home smell.

Chanel No. 5 - The only scent my mother ever wore when I was a kid.

Diesel exhaust (the old stuff, not the new ULSD fuel) - My father was a Greyhound bus driver. Getting to ride on the bus, alone with him, between the station and the shop was a real treat. The overwhelming smell of the shop was that of those buses running.

There are others, but those are the top two.
