When you vilify anything looking, acting, resembling a gun you vilify the gun as the root of the evil.

I like that one.

An old one I have been using for over 30 years is:

"I refuse to have a battle of wits with the unarmed ( or with an unarmed person )"|

Per a Einstein quotes site the above quote was :
"The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits."

Definitely the same opinion with different words.

Maybe he said it twice, using different words. I know I have done that.

Good point. The spray bottles look as much like a gun as that toy the kid had.

1. School boards are elected, but most people don't pay enough attention to who is on them so they have little or no accountability to parents.

2. Administrators are accountable to the school board so the there is little or no second level accountability to parents from the administrators.

So the janitors get sent home when they use this?
Looks equally dangerous and gun-like to me...

I know a voucher system such as you describe has been tried out in several instances in other states. The last time I read up on it, I think it was working out quite well. However, it has been quite a few years since I did so. Also, don't forget homeschooling. A voucher system would allow homeschoolers to spend that money on textbooks and other resources. As it is now, they have to pay for the public schools with their taxes and then pay to school their children themselves. As far as guns in school go, most of the homeschoolers I know are quite in favor of them.

While the actions of the school are drastic, I still can't help remembering when my children were in school, we did not allow them to take toys of any kind to school.

When I was in grade school, we actually had a "GO WESTERN" day when we were encouraged to dress up like cowboys/cowgirls and strap on our toy guns. A prize would be given for the best dressed boy and girl. When in 8th grade we had a kid bring his Dad's collection of rifles to school in order to demonstrate them for an English assignment we had been given. Administrators were more concerned with the length of the girl's skirts. Darn, I must be getting old.
