By law, you are not required to inform.
But, it might be a good thing on your part if you did.
Being forthcoming will make the experience less stressful for both you and the LEO.
(Might get out of the ticket with just a warning.)

Who confirms it's best?
That's a matter of opinion.
If you're legally carrying under MPA and breaking no laws, I wouldn't notify unless asked and not due to a belligerent attitude, but because you may create more problems for yourself.
Officer: Do you know why I stopped you?
You: I have a gun.
Officer: Drawing his weapon, aiming it at you and things proceed from there...
Oversimplified and farfetched scenario?
