It's quite annoying that they don't have any interest in the topic from the viewpoint of students or staff. Faculty are the only ones whose opinions matter, so it seems. There's more at stake here than their viewpoint, and they are not the smartest people in the room regarding it, contrary to what they may or may not believe.

I completely agree with the sentiments posted here. Yes, the survey is flawed in many ways, especially when users don't have to validate their identity or prove they are the targeted audience. However, you know the anti establishments will definitely complete it so I was hoping to at least make sure our side was heard and provided. This is why I shared it in the forum so several other rational thinkers could submit their views as well. It didn't take a lot of time so I don't feel like I "lost" anything, but quite possibly might be enough to warrant a bullet point in some "study" - (and yes, I use that term loosely).

Well that was an interesting little survey, I took it and I did my best to be a progun professor, that should help them with their understanding

I work at a four year public university, how about you?

I included discussions with students about the best pricing on guns and ammo near campus, and for diversity, would discuss differences in female student's issues with CC as compared to male's.

I also am a professor at a 4 year university, I teach constitutional issues specializing in the 2nd amendment issues and freedom

I forwarded the survey to a couple of shooting and hunting buddies to fill out since they also are professors at 4 year colleges, one as already given his opinion on the survey

I am curious about several things. The Principle Investigator is in Speech Communication (not Criminology or Law or any policy or social science discipline). That leaves me wondering what her research objective is. Perhaps it is aimed at the issue of how campus carry might influence free speech in the classroom????

I am also surprised at the minimal IRB-imposed assurances, disclaimers, and other mandated language. I can't ask a farmer what kind of tractor he drives without giving pages of assurances that this purely voluntary, there is no risk, there are no recriminations for not answering, etc. etc. etc. This kind of government mandated language is the legacy of the Nazi's and the Tuskegee experiments. I guess the IRB at Tyler JC is more laid back.
