That Is A Great TRUTH! - We should also learn this.

I have to admit that I don't understand the the whole whoop dee dooo about certain words. It doesn't bother me that that I could be restricted on the choice of vocabulary I must use use on these forums, I don't typically use strong words when I write. It does get annoying when threads get locked and messages get deleted, because typically it breaks the continuity of the thread.

Single words only have the power that those whom are offended give them. If we gave words only the weight of their strict definition we would in effect disarm the offensive around us.
A donkey is still a donkey after all. We all need something to sit on when we type, and there are many words to describe it. And those words only have the power to offend that the offended give those words.

All that being said, It is Mr. Cotton's right to make the rules how he sees fit. Those of us who use his property should respect his wishes.

Absolutely, but I am still not going to hold my pinky up while tossing back a cool longneck! That would get me thrown out of most places around here... ;-)

I think we are still doing rather well in keeping this place civilized...

Its starting to get more and more popular, the word if getting out, and the people looking for a place like this with sound discussions and debates draws everyone in...

Those that keep it straight stick around, those that stir it up, usually straighten out or go back to the other websites...

Honestly, there is not another gun discussion site I go to anymore...

I don't need any other group...

Hey, I am in all in favor of Free Speech!

As in, "If your choice of Speech is offensive, then you are Free to change it or go somewhere else."

For some unknown, unfathomable reason, individuals think they can come on a public site and behave in a way that they would not dare to do standing 3' in front of us.
{Sidebar - with HighVelocity it doesn't change. He's the same in person. ;-) }

If Charles was to stipulate that we all have to have a user name based on some Walt Disney World Character, then that is his decision! (I would be Dumbo.)

I for one am thankful for The Rule, as it keeps the signal-to-noise ratio at a minimum, and keeps the banter more civil.

Thanks, Charles!!

I was thinking more of a Toga look, with the screen name of Socrates...

Who's famous last words were...

"I drank WHAT?!?" :willynilly:

I also thank Charles for the rules set forth. As my 6 year old grand daughter sets with me from time to time and is learning to read.

Funny thing, never thought about a 10 year old daughter rule until I came here. Glad its in place
