I guess that they feel like the "have to do something".

If I were black, I'd think that my time would be better spent teaching youth classes at the local YMCA about getting your hands up and obeying police commands and not reaching for your waistband. Other topics might include "obey the law" and "pull your pants up".

I carry a gun daily and I have zero apprehension about any police contact while carrying. Know why? No, not because I'm white, but because I don't look like a trouble maker, I don't act like a trouble maker, and I speak to the police with respect... and the strangest thing happens... they treat me with respect right back.

You want to dress like a thug, act like a thug, and show the cops how tough you are by talking like a thug and disobeying the law and law enforcement... then you reap what you sow.

It really is that simple.
Being an American, that is mixed (Black and white) I couldn't agree with you more. Instead of protesting try keeping your children out of the streets be a great example for your kids. Stop showing them the only way to make money is to "hustle" and sell drugs. Teach them proper English and how to be presentable. Teach your son to wear a tie and your daughters to not degrade themselves. All I see from minorities are the same thing you see in rap videos. Glorifying of murder, drugs, and degrading the very women they will eventually marry. That is no way to raise a family or live life.

I have never experienced prejudice from any officer because I am respectful. While I do agree people are allowed to express themselves in a way they see fit, if you dress like a thug you will be treated as such. Rant over..

I used to have long hair and drive a cheap beatup car. I was harassed by police on more than one occasion while doing nothing wrong.

Was it profiling? Sure.

Was I treated differently because of my appearance? Most definitely.

Was I ever shot? No! Because I was polite, followed instructions, and kept my hands where they could see them!

I wish I could take credit for it, but I've heard it many times and have no idea from whence it originated. Steal away. :thumbs2:

Something similar that has been attributed to John Wayne goes, "Life is hard. It's harder when you're stupid."

I will be nowhere near Dallas tonight. But if my job had put me in downtown today, I would be heavily armed, and driving my 4x4 dually with pipe bumpers. I pray for the business owners and residents of downtown that they, and their property stay safe. And I pray for all the LEO's that they go home safe tonight after dealing with this crowd.
Do what you say you're gonna do.

Well stated. Last year I sat through a multicultural marketing event where the theme was "Black is the new black". The speaker told us to embrace black culture or be left behind. During the q&a portion, I asked her what exactly about the black culture we need to embrace. She really stumbled all over herself and flipped the question back on me, asking what I thought it meant. I told her the culture of the black families I grew up with were large families where both parent worked extremely hard to provide a better opportunity for all their children. They all gathered every night for dinner. They sat in the pew in front of me at church every Sunday. The children's parents were at their children's every sporting event. When asked if that's what she meant, she took the next question.

Well, that was very uneventful! I think the police outnumbered the protesters!

I think we in Texas (and Oklahoma) are just better behaved than people in places like Maryland, Missouri and Charlotte NC.

That's for sure.

I'm glad that I was wrong in my assumption that the event would lead to unrest.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager
