Iranian government is terrible and that's who we deal with. Iranian people in general are wonderful people but suppressed by their government. I still remember when we were training Iranian pilots at Sheppard AFB, wonderful professional and skilled. We also trained Saudi pilots, all related to the king and none of them capable of being professional pilots. We have let the Iranian people down when they needed us. And we pour tons of money into their corrupt government. Then again, our government is corrupt too.

I have an Iranian Citizen who is a friend. They now have a child who is a U S Citizen.
Near as I can tell Iranians are pretty much like you and I. She wears a head scarf, other than that you would not know she was not any different than any one else. Her English is perfect.
Iranians are Shia Muslims, they generally are more secular than the majority Sunni Muslims. The burka thing in Saudi Arabia is a Sunni Muslim thing. All the 9/11 hijackers were Sunni, so is ISIS. I'm told if the government didn't arrest you for being a spy, you would enjoy Tehran much more than Riyahd
My point. She travels back and forth to Iran all the time. Getting a visa seems to be no issue with the Federal Government. Her Mom and sister come and visit all the time as well.
We don't like them because of the Embassy thing. They don't like us because the CIA deposed their democratically elected president and put the Shah in power thing. We need to be less enemies.

Re: Iran claims it's sending elite fighters to infiltrate US, Europe
I have a French cousin who married an Iranian man in Paris. She's a very typical post-modern European. They moved back to Tehran, where she started a Parisian-tyle pastry shop. (She's a very gifted pastry chef.) She has had two children in the interim, and with both pregnancies, she returned to France to give birth, before returning to Iran. I'm not sure if that was simply for reasons of quality of healthcare (so far as I know, she had no serious pregnancy complications), or for reasons of maintenance of citizenship, since their father is an Iranian rather than French citizen.
She posts a lot of pictures on Facebook of their life in Iran, and other than having to wear a scarf over her head when she goes out, life looks fairly westernized there for her. On the other hand, she is not a religious person, and neither is the Iranian side of her family particularly religious. And as a thoroughly socialist-minded European, she's generally happy with any big, powerfully centralized gov't.......unless it's the gov't of the U.S. Balanced against that, the American/Iranian pastor who was held in prison for so long before being released not too long ago, is a member of my old church back in California. If you're a Christian, particularly of an evangelical bent, you'll see more of the inside of an Iranian prison than any of us would be happy with.....time spent which includes regular beatings and other mistreatment, simply because you pray to and are obedient to a different God. It strikes me that life in Iran would be relatively comfortable for most people, as long as you are either obedient to their theocratic notions, or at least more or less secularized. Here in the U.S., I'm free to say anything I want to about Hillary Clinton on my website if she gets elected, and nobody can do jack squat about it, except call me names in return. Not so much in Iran. It's a nice place to visit, so long as your words or behavior do not challenge the ruling party's line...........or unless you're an American. They hold Americans for ransom there; and since our president negotiates with terrorists, there's no percentage in it for me to visit my cousin in Tehran some day.

we both win. I was right, and you don't owe me ammo.Soap wrote:I bet you 100 rounds of your favorite ammo.allisji wrote:I don't think so.Soap wrote:Jeff B. wrote:Send them. So you assume this will cause the government to question who we let into the country?? So by that logic wouldn't they move to ban guns if that's what is used? You forget Clinton will be president soon.

Hades is still burning so I don't reckon it will be anytime soon. The Annoyed Man wrote:Really?
