Have you ever shot a person?

Not serious, no. I did shoot a guy with a .22 loaded with rat shot one time for stealing. Shot him in the dark, took a bead on his cigarette. He hollared and ran. Never heard a word. But with a shotgun at close range in MY house, I do believe they would have to carry his corpse off. :fire :fire

Hoss, do you really want to make statements like that considering if you ever have to shoot someone and a prosecutor is able to tie you to those statements, you can be made to appear as a trigger happy person eager to shoot to kill. Just something to consider.

No one is guaranteed anonimity on the web. The chairman of WholeFoods in Austin is currently in semi-hot water because of his "anonymous" postings about a rival food chain which he wants to buy out.

Thanks for your answer.

I asked because no one really knows if they can shoot another person until they've tried. Many people can't. It happens in hunting, too (buck fever).

Actually, some do. When burglars are questioned, they claim that their biggest fear is meeting an armed homeowner.

This leads me to believe that our crime problem would be insufferable if it weren't for the Second Amendment and the willingness of some Americans to exercise this right.

Your right about that. I have been faced with a situation before where I did not shoot, only to have it come back to haunt me. The creep beat the soup out of me with a 2x4, caving in my head and breaking my hand. I could have shot him, I was READY to shoot him, but I did'nt. He told me he would catch me without my gun, and he did. That WILL NOT happen again. :fire :fire

"Professional" burglars know what they're doing. They try to locate unoccupied houses and those without dogs or alarms. Many do not carry weapons because that's another charge if they are caught, especially if they are already a felon. Some of these guys are caught on their hundredth or so burglary.

We need to worry about are the ones who don't know what they're doing, don't care whom they hurt, or are actually looking to hurt people.

I see what your saying, and I agree. I'm only stating what I belive I would do. Any prosecutor can go back in my recent past and see that I AM NOT quick to shoot. As I stated here before, I could have, I SHOULD have, but I did'nt. I don't think I'll make that misteak again. :fire :fire
