1.0. Get the drug users evicted or evict them yourself
2.0 Turn the drug users in to local authorities
3.0 Move out, dealing with short term stress of moving will be less painful than dealing with the constant stress all semester long of having your LTC, living with lawbreakers, and worrying about your firearm out in the parking lot
4.0 if you ignore 1-3 above, do not ever consider applying for a position where you will require any kind of security clearance or background check, lie detector test, etc.

I know I'm not helping here but I think all others have. Thank you for posting this because I've talked to my high school aged kids about choosing friends wisely and anticipating future consequences. You are between the proverbial rock and a hard place. I had an older step son live in the house for 6 months a couple of years ago and we had to go through his room regularly to be sure nothing illegal was brought into the house. My wife, after much gut-wrenching and heart-breaking decided that he'd be better under a bridge than the rest of us dragged down with him.

Not having a gun with you if you get busted will be better than having it with you if you are busted, but if you are busted you are still in serious trouble.

Even worse, you could face Federal 'Kingpin' charges if the weed residue on your buddies' pipe traces to the Drug Gangs in Mexico. Then you could be on the hook for the death penalty...for the murders committed by the Sinaloa Cartel. You never know when you're going to get an anti-gun anti-MJ US Attorney, especially in Austin. :biggrinjester:

On the other hand, if you leave it in the car, you probably have little chance of getting caught up on drug charges. It increases the chances of your gun being stolen...but then so does having it in the apartment with pothead roommates. If you don't want to move, I'd leave it in the car. ;-)

I've gone through my lease and actually found that they do not allow possession of weapons on the property either. Looks like I'm screwed either way and will be leaving it at home for the time being.

relating to the gun, probably your wisest choice. ;-)
Finding roommates your age in austin that don't smoke, that may be a challenge.

You can legally keep it in your car on the property and probably even in your apartment without any criminal sanction regardless of the lease, but if the apartment finds out they may cancel your lease or evict you. On the other hand they may cancel your lease and evict your roommates for smoking dope...

If you got a LTC and you wish to carry when you're not inhaling secondary fumes from your pothead roommates, you should leave it in your car in Austin. Maybe get a lockbox chained/welded to your seats/floorboards. That's what a lot of people who can't carry at work do.

I agree with everyone else... GET OUT!!!

Look, the best you can hope for is that nothing happens. You will still be living with the knowledge that something may happen at any time and you can be in just as much trouble as them.

Find yourself a better situation so you can concentrate on your studies without living under a cloud of fear.

Staying in your current situation is the part that should not be an option. Moving might be tough, but it won't be nearly as tough as the potential result of staying.

What? Where's all the Rand Paul libertarians on this Forum pushing for ending all drug laws and allowing legal pot? Why is the government telling me what I can put in my own body? Beer is just as bad as flakka and meth, and there's no law against beer. Beer kills way more people than heroin and PCP...

I'm tired of my constitutional right to do shrooms being violated.

The people here are giving you advice you didn't ask for.

O.K., I understand.

When you're arrested and go to jail or even prison which is inevitable, remember, you were advised well and chose to ignore good, practical advise because your self sabotaging behavior was ignored by you and a lack of getting off your butt to do the smart thing wasn't for you.

:iagree: 100%! There is no reason to hang out with drug abusers and their criminal connections at all and the risk getting into legal escapades is just not worth it. It is not a question if the will drag you down it is a question of when.

What if your car gets broken into, or stolen? I've secured my gun in my car when I've gone inside a business, but could observe my car the whole time. But there is no way in hades that I would lock my gun in my car overnight. Too much risk.

Why isn't moving an option?

With the potency of current marijuana have you ever considered that if you were drug screened you might be positive from 2nd hand smoke and be in big trouble? Someone must move in this situation and probably it will be you.

I think pot should be legal but at the moment it's prohibited by Texas law and Federal law.

I think suppressors (and pretty much all NFA items) should be unregulated under the Second Amendment but at the moment they're not. If I had a roommate who was building free market suppressors in our apartment and selling them, I might sympathize philosophically, but I'm not going to risk sticking around.
